I haven't seen this but maybe you have. It was SingleBack 4WR tight. He had Plaxico Burress on the left side. He moved him in motion wide left. As soon as he hiked the ball he threw it to Plaxico. Plaxico jumped but looked as if he was jumping backwards toward the sideline but slightly down field. My DB was way out of position. I tried Man and zone and Bump and run. He only ran it when things were tight so I couldn't experiment too much against it. Anyone seen this, know how it's done or how to defend it?

I have been looking around for answers also. I saw a post about a guy receivers not being big enough to pull off a quick high fade. I was thinking it was the fade route with a timed throw but my receiver was so out of position I wasn't sure. Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think only I was a victim of this.

There are suppose to be some adjustments you can add to the brn man to man, like moving the CB a half step inside. But brn man to man with no adjustments will slow it down some.

I think it is a hot route to a fade rather than a specific play. The trick I believe is the timing and the receiver being big. But he always used singleback 4 wr tight. It may be because the receiver away from the line of scrimage is harder to bump. I was working with it a little, the guy I went against always put the guy in motion. Not sure if it was part of the plan or he just wanted to check the coverage.

Actually I must correct myself. It is the fade comeback route that is in every playbook somewhere. Look for the route that starts with a fade and ends with a comeback to the outside. I never used these routes because I wanted the comeback to the inside. But throw it quick against a zone and get good yards. Bump and runn kills it though but it is good to know.

First off, those comebacks to the outside are hot. If you throw it the proper way (which is at about 1 or 11 oclock) 1 for right, 11 left side. Against any man, it destroys. But the way I defended the high pass was one of these to ways. First always delayed bump and run. One way was to blitz a "aware" db that side. Would bread it up sometimes,. The best alternative was that I played the cormer my self. I never took control of the DB untill the pass was thrown then hit sticked, or swat. It took me time to get this down(the timing) but it works.

Ok, most of you prolly know this, but I heard a lot of people getting burnt by the High/Quick pass, and ive seen a lot of threads about people needing to stop it. Its prolly the only thing in this game on consider to be cheese. I haven’t really played a lot of people who have been using it but I played this one guy, who tried to use it every play. 1st play quick pass, 2nd play quick pass man bump didn't work, 3rd play quick pass zone didn't work, 4th play INT for t.d, take your safty bring over to Wide-outs side, pick the light blue zone, the one covering the flats, make sure safty is on a narrow slant to the flats, safty placed about9 yards above wr. He stop doing it every play and started doing it once a series, and when I guessed right, it was an INT or tipped ball. But if the safty can't make the play then it might be a T.D, so you should lab that, like lab so you still have help over top of play, and you all rdy need someone to take care of flats in general, be it DE, LB, CB, and the safty is all rdy covering flats, so if you can lab that out, and get help over top, then that would be a good play to have in audible, I got 2picks that game from High/quick pass, 1was T.D on int, other was T.D with O, so that’s kind of like a 28point swing is some ways. But really that play is almost impossible to stop with just making normal D, unless his wr drops ball or gets over thrown. But really lab that out with safty cover flats on a narrow slant to flats about 9 yards about wr.

I used to do this back in '05 out of shotgun tight. If someone was constantly playing man and bumping, this particular route would kill it. The play you guys are talking about can only be done out of singleback-4wr tight....the play is called Slot option. The outside WR on left side runs a slant curl towards side line...but the trick is when you hike the ball. You have to hike the ball right when orange arrow disappears and then you have to bullet the pass and pass lead up. The CB gets lost.....and if you have a great WR its an easy 8-10 yards.
