so i can do pretty well at stopping the run, but when im a safety playing zone, i can never decide what area to defend, usually im in a blue zone, so i go back, and stay near the hash marks, not let anybody get behind me, like the VP said, but when someone takes the post, or corner, i take them, and i get picked underneath, or a try to cover both areas, well just disaster

so how can I keep the pressure up and still defend the pass?

if nybody wants to show me stuff-

When you play safety you have to cover your area. There are holes in every zone, if you fill that hole then you leave another open. If you are in man you can help one of your defenders out by controlling a safety. It sounds like he is forcing you to make decisions. You can only help in one area or help one of your defenders. Take the guy deep and give up the short pass if you must. Make him work his way down field. You didn't say who you were playing with but if it is Greenbay don't expect to shut everyone down. Work on the swat and playcalling and play alot. Soon you will start to get better.

Like UnKn0wN41510 said, I also believe that's best to bring the HEAT when you play zone. All out zones with just 3 or 4 man pash rush are usually just too easy to beat because of the lack of pressure. But when I determine what area I will defend, I usually go by where my opponent is positioned inconjunction with the hash marks. For example, if my opponent is lined up all the way towards the end of the left hash marks, chances are he will look to throw towards the right side of the field because there's a lot more room to work in. So if that's the case, I will usually setup a blitz off that wide side of the field and still have a flat or purple zone in that area and I will most likely control the safety on that side. So I try to force him to look the opposite way where there's less room to pass with. That's just some basic ways I determine where I will send blitzers from and who I will control on D. You just got to keep bringing the heat IMO if you go zone, it really does actually help open up the use vanilla zones and F@G zones, but I use those more as a surprise tactic. I also like to use a lot of 3-4 & Nickel-2-4-5 mostly when I zone blitz.
