I have a lot of problems with people who line up 4 wides singleback and then runs. If I try to run dime defense its makes a easy spin move to the outside for a quick runing back. If I try to go with a base defense or nickle my defense of players still spread out to put me in a dime look(which allows for the same problem earlier). If I manuely put my players in the box they are out of position to defend the pass.

I understand that there is know such thing as a perfect defense and these problems are what make the spread effective but what are some schemes or tactics I should I be thinkng about when I run into this offense.

Thx

"Freeze" (Triangle+R2) the defense if you come out in a base or Nickel package and especially if you come out in Zone coverage. It'll help prevent your Linebackers from spreading out into a Dime look like you said. Of course though if you run man coverage and freeze your defense, some of your defenders will be out of position to defend the pass. That's why if you go man coverage against a spread offense like that your going to have to come up with a safety and be more aggressive vs. the run sometimes to help slow down the running game and also blitz CBs off the slot.
