Ok. Today i was playing a guy who would come out with the same formation everytime. He was the Bengals and had Houshmanzadeh on the left, and the tight end, the 3rd Wr, and Chad Johnson on the right.
He either ran the ball with rudi right up the gut(most of the time), and occasionaly threw a bomb to chad johnson, and ran in and out routes with the other wrs.
I could not stop this because if i blitzed he still got yards or he audibled to a pass, and if i played pass defense he just ran it for about 8 yards each time not counting the times he broke tackles and had a big gain.
What formation and what tatics would you use to counter this?

Yup What This Guy Is Doing Is Running A Spread Offense.he Is Reading The Box ,try A 46 Defense That Way You Can Keep Guys In The Box On Pass And Run ,that Will Make Him Think A Little More

Use The 46 But With The Speed Package . Pinch Ya Line But dont shift them in and Blitz Mlb between the two tackles. Since He Is Responsinle For The Running Bacc Anyway .On Runs Its Causes A Clutter At Line And If It Bounces To Outside You Have Cbs Instead Of Lbs Who React Quiccer , If Its A Pass And U Time It Right It Might Be A Turnover . Good Lucc

I like to come out in a 3-4/4-3, 3-3-5/Nickel-Normal/Strong. Freeze the defense also if you run zone especially, it can help stop the run because it keeps the Linebackers in the box. It can also help in not tipping off blitzes. I always see first if my opponent can beat my base Defense which is a 3-4/4-3 before spreading out with Nickel/Dime or Quarter to match his 3+WRs. Stop run, force him to pass and then he'll become predictable.

This is what i like to do against the spread offense. I usually play 3-4 solid drop zone. At first i usually play it (safe) make both safeties play deep (ps2= triangle up twice) weakside MLB drop deep Zone, sit middle myself with srongside MLB. I may even put strong or weak side DE in flat zone. After I see what thier tendencies or preferences are, i adjust. i.e Blizt a LB or both, put both DE in flat routes. Play a WR individually man to man. But their are just some guys out thier that is going to be hard to stop, try everything. But you can not let people run out of the spread, because when I can consistently get good yards rushing out of the spread, it is virtually imposible for me to get stopped, because I will only pass when feasable. I hope this helps.
