on Thursday nights without Mike Tirico. Because I liked his preparation, analysis, and respected his delivery of games, I'm happy he was able to 'move up' - which I assume was his goal.
The current Thursday night crew isn't awful, but the loss of Tirico is big.
What's more, even his analysis can't make watching the absolutely awful NFL any more stomachable. You've still got to tolerate all of the morons like Berman, Marino, Irvin, Esiason, Sanders, etc. The NFL just sucks.

Wow, first person I have ever heard dislike Berman! The guy is a legend! Yes I said legend because ESPN fired him years ago and during that span while he was gone they had so many people writing to ESPN saying they would stop watching if he was not brought back. Sure enough they got him back and a smart move btw. The guy is awesome because he knows what he is talking about and makes things more enjoyable even on simple run plays with his "Whoop" <-- if had sound it'd be better then just reading! Genius!

I gotta agree with you about Tirico, he is missed in the college games. Ron Franklin is about the only guy doing college games that is worth a crap, but he must have done something to make somebody mad. He only does the odd game here and there. I always believed he'd be the guy to take Jackson's place. But, I could be a bit biased because of where he comes from.

College football commentary has fallen off for real. The only cats worth something now are Ron Franklin and Brent Musberger. I like Ron Franklin's cool demeanor especially when he says, "So the situation is..." and I like how Musberger calls big plays with his enthusiasm. The game really needs Tirico and Keith Jackson back.

Ron is outstanding, and you're right, it doesn't seem as though he's been doing as many college games.
He's also good friends with Norm Stewart, who coached Mizzou basketball for 30 years. Franklin's called MU-kU basketball games for years.

Well you know Ron's from Oxford, MS, and since the Ole Miss Rebels are really dominant this year (LOL), there might be some backlash against him calling games. But seriously, I wonder why he isn't doing more games. I know he did more last year.
