Does anyone else here like to play safety on defense? I usually play safety because I got tired of playing with people who would just throw up streak routes all game. I've gotten pretty good at it...

I play FS, SS and, OLB. I'm not really good at reading routes and picking the ball off. What I like to do is make JACKED UP! highlights when i play as the safety. It's very entertaining to me.

I like to play a little of everything, depending on the situation and coverages I'm running.

I play safety every play. I've gotten damn good at adjusting my D to let the CPU do all the blitzing.

I don't play DT's or CB's, everything else is fair game.

In my league I lead the league in INTs with Darren Sharper, and when I played FS with Dwight Smith I lead the league with 2 defensive TDs lol

Because I played in high school so I know the responsibilities. I usually just roam over the middle or play the middle 3rd of the field.

I almost always play with DTs; I experimented with playing the safeties for a while, but I kept blowing assignments; I've gotten very good at the swim/spin with DLs, so unless it's a quick timing pass and I'm in the wrong defense, they usually don't have time to get off a good throw... My next job is to learn all the playmaker moves for defenders so I can tell the defense how to cover and go after the QB...

I play as FS now. I used to play with my MLB but due to the high amounts of streaks thrown deep I moved to FS. Once I got a hang of not biting on PA I do really well with FS. All the good players usually play as safety because you can control the entire field with it whether pass or run.

i agree that most the "good" players use the safety...i use SS most the time..you can bring extra run support..make sure PA doesn't kill both the CB and safety..
ill use the LB if i'm zone blitzing..the LBs always take such a stupid path..and always tackles the RB in PA

I only control LB's get like 6 Hit Sticks a game, the key is just to control one LB and try to break through. what i really like to do is put lawson(49ers) a little back and blitz one of my safetys or put them in Flat Zone, it's pretty good also i just use coverage with him
Long Situation i am the Safety and am looking for that INT

I think playing with safety is fun, especially since I've drafted a safety that causes a lot of fumbles, but typically I play LB. The LB has quick access to the run, or sometimes I choose to abandon my route and go in for a sack, and I tend to get a lot of INTs on short passes because I've become so good at reading shorter routes.

I usually play as the Free, especially since the DB's seem to be real dumb in this game.
In Third and Long, I usually take control of a LB and either manually rush or drop back and read routes.

I love controlling the RILB or ROLB in a 3-4 zone blitz scheme, well atleast with the scheme setups I like to run I seem to create my most havoc with those defenders. Other than that, definitely I'll control safeties or DEs/OLBs when I go Man Under. When I go Cover2-Man Under, I usually control the safety that's responsible for the widest side. I consider man under to be my prevent D where I just sit back, contain and pounce on the obvious tendencies and I use zone blitzes with a more aggressive offensive approach to try to get quick leads. Remember, your usually better off going for the swat. ;)
