So should I drop 130 on a PS2, 40 on Madden and 25 on a memory card JUST to play Madden's franchise mode????
The next-gen franchise mode is real bare bones and drives me crazy sometimes, and since I ONLY play franchise mode, should I switch back to current gen till Madden 08 comes out???
It's not the money, I got the cash, it's the ethics.......any advice?
Warning to PS3/360 buyers, avoid Madden if you know what's best.

I'm under the impression that the PS3's NG is more advanced than the 360's.....
As for playing the CG version, we should be able to do that on the PS3 with the game we already have for the PS2 since the thing will be able play games going back to the PSOne.

Naw just had more time to develope. They will both be the same in 08. But yeah coach i would get it if you like playing franshise mode. It makes no sense at all playing a franshise without all the statistics. I'm thinking about getting the xbox ng cause i'm sick of the ps2 servers.

The PS3 version is going to be nearly identical...maybe they will have added a player editor, but that's about it. Were the PS2 and Xbox versions ever different, even though the Xbox was slightly more powerful? No.
Every August all the Next-gen's will be the same (except the wii which won't look as pretty).
Like I said before, you can play all the old Xbox games on 360 as well....but NOT Madden and NCAA, EA sucks. They stipulated it, won't be on PS3 either from what I know, could be wrong.

The next gen version is beautiful, I LOVE the gameplay, the animations and everything are great.
But there's no owner mode yet, no player editor yet, no player roles yet, no custom stadiums yet.....can't wait for 08.
I draft my NCAA classes because the MGD's blow.

So back on topic...
Is there something sad about spending $200 for Madden franchise mode???? It's one of my few hobbies and like I said, $ isn't the problem, it's the ethics....
Need some reassurance. :D
For PS2 roster downloads do you just plug in the ethernet create an account and go?

Coach, if you love playing Franchise Mode like I do .. then it is worth it 100%
I import draft classes, try to keep the reality of the team in check (making realistic moves, keeping loyal players, not trading away veterans for 1st RD picks every year, or robbing the worst PC team of their 1st/2nd/3rd combo with my own with that ridiculous trade bug) and spend hours scouting/studying teams and game-planning around their depth charts (and what I know about their HeadCoach and his set Defensive scheme) before actually playing games ..
$200 is cheap .. if I had to shell out $200 to play a Madden Franchise (make it $250 because I'd be buying NCAA as well) with all the full features .. then I am down. In fact if I had to pay $500 for the PS2 Madden set-up, vs $500 for the garbage Franchise modes on Xbox with the better graphics, I would still go back to PS2 in a heartbeat.
If the gameplay features are there, then that's where the money is at .. if you play Franchise/Dynasties like me. Which is a hobby I do just like I go out to the park to play b-ball, or go hiking, etc. It's something I set aside time, and schedule time, to do. Very rarely is anything else even in my PS2.

Personally, I wouldn't pay that just for franchise mode. I guess because the CPU is too easy to beat in a game.
But if it's something you enjoy then buy it...

Back on topic - yes you should, i would. chise is what makes this game awesome IMO. Plus it allows you to "keep it real" like BlItZeD4LiFe said. I do the same thing he does.
One thing i am waiting for EA to do though is allow the CPU teams to make trade offers to me and also trade among themselves.

nevada, you and me both.
sometimes though, i do what I call a "three team trade" .. of course I am only controlling my team, but what I will do is if i'm interested in a pair of players on two teams, I will wing a deal with all three.
it's a good idea to save first, because in the end you will wind up making about 4-6 trades in order to get everyone where they should be as well as not ringing up $10M in cap penalty for the other teams, but when I recently did one in my franchise I moved: (this my latest example)
QB P.Rivers (2nd string QB in SD) and CB Q.Jammer (upset and wanting a trade/release, he got beat out of a starting spot by Florence/T.Law) to Arizona (who had no QB above 70+ OVR so Rivers will start)
I took a 5th string CB I liked (NCAA import) from SD and put him on the Falcons
SD got one of my (3rd Rd) draft picks, one of Arizona's (2nd) and CB E.Green (who was as good as Jammer)
I also retrieved a LB from Arizona for my own depth.
So SD wound up with E.Green and two pretty high draft picks
Arizona got a starting QB and a good CB opposite Rolle
and I got great (or useful for my schemes anyway) depth at CB/LB for my 3rd Rd pick I gave up
I only controlled ATL .. I just trade the guys through my team, to help out others who seem in a rut .. like Rivers still not starting by Year 4, Jammer wanting out of SD, and Arizona somehow coming out of the offseason with Rohan Davey at starting QB. lol this type of stuff really interests me.
edit: um, this is slightly off topic. sorry.

good stuff... amazing Rivers won't get to play. but i've seen stuff liek that in my chise also. Ever thought about making all the teams "user teams" just so you could set their Depth Charts? I keep wanting to do it but always forget when i'm at the Off-Season menu...lol

i would suggest regular xbox, the loading times are so much faster, and when you sim like preseason or anything on ps2 it takes forever and it lags between plays during games its terrible xbox is much better...unless you plan on getting other games i would get a xbox, but if your looking to get some ps2 games as well then get the ps2 because of the game selection

I already have a 360 I love, the PS3 Madden is the same game except for gang-tackling and motion features they added with the extra 4 months of dev. time. In August they'll be the same game....supposedly in August Madden next gen will be great, finally.
I just don't know if I can wait till August.

Coach... if this is something you decide on doing, I may be willing to sell you a ps2 (its the old version). I was looking into selling it anyways, its got the network adapter, 2 controllers, 1 wireless controller, a memory card, dvd remote, probably something else that Im forgetting. But when I last checked everything worked great... If its somethin your interested in let me know , I can look it all over again for you, get you some pics if you need... whichever...

Update for Coach - EA's Madden site > http://www.easports.com/madden07/features.jsp?id=ps3 says the PS3 NG has Franchise Mode, you can read it for yourself at the bottom part of that link. Does the 360 lack the Superstar Mode also cuz that's in the PS3 NG too.

Already discussed on your Madden PS3 thread...but in case you missed it (and you obviously aren't reading this thread) the 360 DOES have franchise, and HOF, and superstar. I swear you don't pay any attention to me....
The point is the Franchise mode is half-assed JUST LIKE it will be on PS3.
Go to ign.com and watch the vids and screens for Rainbow 6, Madden, Call of Duty 3, and more on the 360, and then see them on the PS3...no difference.
The Franchise mode on 360 is identical to what the PS3 will offer....I'm warning you, save your $ till August.

MADDEN NFL 07 for XBOX 360
Lead Blocker Control:
Throw the perfect block and create a running lane with all-new lead blocking control, and then take command of the tailback and rip off a big gain.
NFL Superstar: Hall of Fame Mode:
Play your way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame by taking complete control of any position on the field. Your actions on and off the field determine your impact on the game.
Run Like the Players Run with the All-New Highlight Stick:
Bust out player-specific running styles matching those of real NFL players (e.g., smaller backs slash to break tackles, while bigger runners bowl over defenders in the open field). All-new jukes, cutbacks, and power moves.
Team-Specific Defensive Playbooks:
For the first time, use actual plays from your favorite team's defensive playbook to shut down the running game, pressure the quarterback, or force key turnovers.
Online Play:
Climb the leaderboard as you take on your biggest rivals from coast-to-coast in Play Now or Session Match games. In addition to features above, here's more for Madden NFL 07 on Xbox 360...
The Season Begins in Mini-Camp (XBOX 360 only):
Create a player then build up his attributes by running him through skill-based, combine-type mini-games. In the off-season use Mini-Camps to condition players or rehab injuries to get back on the field faster.
Madden Gamer Level (XBOX 360 only):
Track your career accomplishments in Franchise Mode to earn Madden Gamer Points, and then wager your rewards against the computer or against live online opponents to reach the ultimate reward—the NFL Hall of Fame.
Replay Challenge (XBOX 360 only):
Throw the red flag and challenge any play. Overturned calls or plays "that stand" have a huge effect on the outcome of every game.
http://www.easports.com/madden07/features.jsp?id=ps3
All the same stuff the PS3 will have except for gang tackling and the motion sensing stuff, which I'm sure, like the vision cone, most won't use.
It's all the same game....always will be. Play Madden on both systems and you won't notice a difference.

I couldn't handle the 360 franchise either. I had to go back to original xbox.
It's just something you have to do if franchise is your thing, as it is for me.

I might try PC, I have a widescreen LCD monitor so it might be cool.
