Allowing > 50 points on all madden

Some of you guys might have seen this in the Franchise Forum, but I thought I'd post in the Defensive Strategy forum too.

I’m brand new to this forum and I signed up with 1 thing in mind… I can’t win on All Madden. I’ve been playing madden since 03 and have normally just played as high as All Pro. I’m in the 4th year of my dynasty and I’ve done a pretty damn good job rebuilding the 49ers. I was undefeated and won the Super Bowl in my last season on All Pro level so I decided I need to move up to All Madden.

I’m 1-4 on the season having lost 4 straight. I’m averaging over 20 points per game on offensive but I’m allowing over 50 on defense. I’ve returned all but my ROLB from last season and I had the #1 Defense in the league last year. I run a 3-4 defense. My Secondary is all over 90, My 3 of my LB’s are over 90 my DL is all over 85 (DE’s are both over 90) but I cant seem to stop anyone.

It seems like my main challenge is stopping big plays. 3 or 4 times a game at least I give up TDs greater than 50 yards.

My Def strategy:
Lots of preassure on the QB. I have fast OLB's who I blitz often. I also like to send a fast Nickle CB on blitzes. I prefer Man to Man coverage but mix it up a lot. I like to blits in Zone coverage too.

Any suggestions on what I can do to tighten up on Defense?

It takes time to beat allmadden. Believe me it takes time. First you have to develope a scheme for offence and defence. Use alot of motion. Try compressed sets and quick passing. Call a pass play at the call screen then switch to a run out the same formation (R stick audible). Remember the tendencies of the d called by the computer. It's mostly a cover1 or a cover 3.On defence you have to blitz and blitz and blitz some more to force bad throw from the qb. If you let the cpu have all the time in the world then they will complete it. Give the cpu differant looks on defence to throw it of . You know you are doing something right when your getting alot of delay of games and false starts. If your going to use coverage without a blitz then bump and make sure you have zones covering every where ( 2 purple 2 flats and 3 hooks). Last year it took me about 30 games to start putting a can of woop arse on the cpu this year it took me 15. It's all about trying new things and going into 2 minute drill and learning your playbooks.

I know it might be out of your way but try getting the vg guide. That will broaden your knoledge of madden football on the things you can do differantly. It's worth it i get it every year and try the filmroom. But if not i would do a search on topics. There is enough knoledge hear from threads to give you knoledge on how to make your adjustments and developing a scheme. Try doing searches on the 34 and 46 defences and on offence try the compression thread and just simply ask some questions on the main thread and people will answer you. I would also suggest playing online just to learn how people play differant defences and how people run the offences also. tThe more you play against humans and taking some of there game and add it to yours i sure you will have no more problem on allmadden ever again no matter what year comes out.

yeah..i've been playin on All-Madden since the 05' and its pretty easy. Playin against computer on AM you can't or shouldn't blitz as much cause your gonna get burnt in the secondary. all i do is play my safety and yeah own them! But try playing a lot of zones Cover 3 works best for me out of the 3-4. Control the mlb and zone the middle of the field. can't really explain it that well..but hope that helped you a little bit.
