I think I need to rethink my defensive strategy. I've been stopping the deep ball with great success. I just don't like giving up quick scores.

Unfortunately some of my better comp. has been killing me over the middle.

I'm thinking of playing as the MLB or a saftey w/ a yellow zone to take away the middle and force my guy to throw it deep and then manually select a CB or saftey and pick it.

my current philosophy on D is just to bring some heat and make sure no receivers get behind me. it works. but i know there can be room for improvement.

well...depends on what routes u are talking about...like post routes and those kind of things over the middle...putting the DTs in deep zones (dark blue) work pretty well actually...especially if they arent really fat ones and are somewhat athletic ones...

yah i agree... i put my DL in deep zones pretty often... especialy on a corner blitz... the QB reads CB blitz and wants to drop it to a crossing or a slant route.. or to his TE.. not gonna see the DT drop back and swat it...

It's a nice GIMMICK that is the perfect defense against guys think in only one flavor... VANILLA. It works poorly against smarter players... But it's just a gimmick...

An easy way to beat this gimmick is to run dives down the defenses throat. OFTEN. Then throw to the middle after the defense decided to defend the LOS. :D

There are better players to use when defending the middle. But when the offense is vanilla, dropping a defender that "should be" rushing will get tons of picks and deflections.

yea....he asked how to stop the deep middle pass (as if thats what he cant stop as if they are doing it all the time)..in which case this would work...if there was something that defended everything then why play the game??

when my opp likes to go middle of the field instead of me usin the yellow zone I usually change it to QB Spy...

I found great success with it...

Taking it a step further... If there was only 1 way to defend anything, why play the game?

There's hundreds of ways to cover the middle without dropping the D-line... I'm surprised no one suggested Robber coverages among the long list of things that cover the middle well.
