I see all these terms for looping the lineman, freeze the defense, manual bump. Can someone post the most common defensive movements. I know the basics.

Bump (tri+down)
Show blitz (tri+left)
Align (tri+right)

How do you bump when you pick the corner manually. Is it even possible to bump just 1 wr. Also interested in looping the lineman for ps2. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe its (tri+down+flip play twice)

Yeah, delayed Bump is flipping the play twice on defense. Xbox is X/Black twice right after the defense breaks the huddle. Freezing the defense is one I have been wondering about myself. Looping out is just White/Up on the D-pad on Xbox. This makes the D-linemen crash out.

All the All Stars on this site will explain the Freezing of the Defense. I just don't know. This site is awsome, they really want to help.

L1, R3 up.

What this done is change your DLs pass rush angle to loop around the tackles. It's best used when you have an End(s) like Dwight Freeny and Julius Peppers because their speed allows them to get around the tackle.

Nice! Thanks for the reply. I've been doing it, but havent noticed the difference. I guess they really are changing their movement.

Click on the DB you want to cover that particular WR first.

Say its the "O" WR. If you want him bumped, press Triangle, O, then Down. IF you wanna play off, press Up instead of Down, If you wanna shade him inside or outside, hit R1 or L1 after Triangle, then O.

If it's a DB in zone or blitzing, and you want to double cover the reciever with him, press Triangle, O, then Right. Hope that helps.

Yeah, delayed Bump is flipping the play twice on defense.

wait im cunfused, how do u flip the play?? on the playcalling screen or on the field?? adn what is delayed bump do? and when the best time to use it?

see im not aware at all about all of these things, just like FSUFAN. the only htings i know are:

triangle down for the bump, triangle left to blitz, right to allign, and triangle up to move the CBs back for the long pass.. im not sure what are the correct situations to do these techniques tho.

if you could tell me some other techniques then i have posted above that would be great.

i also think people like me and FSUfan would like to know what should be on our mind as were coming out of the huddle on defence. what are the things that you guys think about as you see the offence lining up. and how do you read the offence? ive also wondered whats involved in executing a perfect zone defence. whenever i do zone they always find a way to slide it through.

if anyone could try to help me (and anyone else having defensive trouble) out that would be great :D

On defense, I try to predict what they are about to do. But your number one objective is to stop a score. Never ever leave your D in position to get beat deep.

The perfect zone is hard to execute in '07 because of the deep threat. But if they are picking apart your zone, then you need to get more pressure via blitzing or LB & Linemen shifting.

sorry i don't know ps2 controls but here's some stuff you might want to know:

pinch line: line audible + down
move line left: line audible + left
move line right: line audible + right
spread line: line audible + up

crash out (aka loop): line audible + right analog stick up
crash line left: line audible + right analog left
crash line right: line audible + right analog right
crash line in: line audible + right analog down

for line backers the controls are the same except with linebacker audible instead. you can shift your line/lbs as much as you want without changing the play but be careful when you crash them, it will playmake them all on a blitz in the direction you specified so any man or zone assignments they had will be forgotten.

usually a pretty good combination that most people like is to spread and loop the line, then pinch the linebackers. out of most normal 3-4 and 4-3 sets this will stack the outside linebackers right behind your dline which is good for stopping the inside run, and looping the line gives outside pressure as well. this is pretty general and you can use it in most situations - most people i know like to actually do this before every play to get better positioning.

normal bump: coverage audible + down
align coverage: cover audible + right
crowd the line: cover audible + left
leave cushion: cover audible + up

then

delayed bump: normal bump, then flip play either once or twice (same results, just depends whether you want play flipped or not) - this is normal bump except your corners will play at normal distance instead of moving closer to the line to immediately bump the receivers, good to stop the deep ball

aggressive bump: normal bump, flip once, normal bump again (for this one i'm not sure if you can flip twice instead of once in between, i'll have to check it out) - this is pretty dangerous to use since your corners will commit heavily to the bump and can get burned easily, only use this against quick outs, drags or quick pass and it's always a good idea to leave zone coverage over the top to help out (never use this against the deep ball)

some general advice on defense:

someone was asking about zone.. you can't cover the entire field and still bring sufficient pressue on the quarter back at the same time. zone works best with pressue, yes sometimes people will drop back 10 or 11 in coverage but giving someone literally all day to throw is usually not the best idea since they can just sit and wait for a receiver to get open however long it takes. instead, you have to read what routes they like to throw to (do they abuse the deep ball, the TE post or TE corner, wr corner route, drag, flats etc.) and use the appropriate zone (ex. deep zone for deep passes, curl zone (aka purple zone) for corner routes, flats (the low light blue zone) for flats, hook (aka yellow) zone for stuff over the middle, etc.). you have to learn as the game progresses where your opponent likes to pass, cover those areas, and blitz the rest to get good pressure. a lot of people look to throw to the flats when they are under pressure so having one or two flat zones is desirable in most cases. cover 3 is the most popular base zone defense to use - cover 2 is susceptible deep (only two safeties playing deep zones with no other help) and cover 4 is abused by the flats. it's also common to come out in engage 8 (which has 3 men covering deep as well) and then modifying the play by using playmaker to command some people who are blitzing to drop back in zones instead since engage 8 by itself is very risky.

you shouldn't play straight man with no zone help over the top in most normal situations, only do so if you really want to bring heat or if you want to stop the run but either way it is still risky. 2 man under is a great, safe man/zone combination, many good players can base their whole defense around 2 man under and play it safe by never giving up the deep play, since against 2 man under if you throw deep to the outside, it will always be to double coverage.

generally, zone gets your turnovers with a risk, and man gets you stops. at the beginning of the game you can either comeout firing with some zone blitz schemes to try to swing momentum early, or you can play it safe with lots of 2 man under and spend that time learning how he likes to play, then throw in appropriate zones later on. after the beginning of the game, you generally want to play man or safe zones like cover 3 or cover 4 when you lead, and more aggressive zone blitzes if you really need turnovers.

when you say "flip the play" is that in the playcall menu? or on the field?
