countering the Highlight Stick?

I played a guy last night who loved the highlight stick and was pretty good with its timing. I'd saying he broke an open field tackle about 60% of the time.

Much of what I love about Madden is that for every strategy there is, either offensive or defensive, there is usually always a way to counter (e.g. - counter the hit stick with R analog down).

Being a new feature to '07, I've yet to find an effective way to counter the Highlight Stick. I've tried countering with the Hit Stick, but his highlight stick seems to trump it every time.

It may just be a "year of the running back" thing, but I was curious to know if anyone had some advice to defend the highlight stick.

If you simply run into a player into of using hitstick, you get better results depending on the SIZE of the players. That result is a solid tackle instead of getting run over or juked.

If he is consistently tap dancing down the field then your play calling needs more work than tackling.

Before you play online again, do that RB drill 3 times and you will be all warmed up for running the ball and understanding how to make that "one man to beat" tackle.
