What are some good passing routes when playing with the chargers. I can't get anything deep. What is the key with passing with the chargers?

Throw to Gates, ESPECIALY in man coverage. If I see man I always pick a play that I throw to my TE on. Not many LBs and safeties can man up with Gates.

Throw short routes, curls, outs, and drags to Keenan. Vincent Jackson is 6'4 use that on posts, streaks, fades. He can out jump DBs any day of the weak.

If you need more help just tell me and I'll be here to help you.

And I almost forgot, LT. USE him out of the backfield. Motion him sometimes to get him one on one on one side of the field. Say your in I-Form Twin WR motion LT to the side opposite of the WRs.

Thanks! How do you beat cover 2 zone? Everyone does this b/c they know I can't go deep.

If they're playing cover 2 zone and you know it then send your FL or SE on a streak or fade. They'll be one on one with a safety. Or send your FL or SE on a post. Both of those routes are great against Cover 2 Zone.

Thanks, also, what are your #2, 3, 4 wr's?

WR#1: Keenan McCardel
WR#2: Vincent Jackson
WR#3: Parler
WR#4: Antonio Gates
WR#5: LT

I often package Gates at the slot though and I would suggest it to any Charger user but you don't have to and I don't do it all the time. Same thing with LT. If I'm in a 4 Wide set I like to have Gates as my 3rd Wide Out and LT as my 4th.

Osgood, dude is a Beast in the slot, (but I package gates to the slot alot) So I switch him and McKardell, he is a touch faster too... but trust me, Osgood is overlooked! throw him some passes and use LT! dude is 100%Pure, no doubt even on the HB pass!
Gates, Osgood, Malumuneunnea (sp) Parker & LT are my primary pass options on a given play...

Get LT involved! That guy opens up so much for me. I mainly like to split him wide via motion from formations such as I-Form-TwinWR where I can isloate him on the outside edge and send him on streaks or fades. When I do that he becomes a legitament speedy deep threat receiver that the Chargers don't have in their WR corps. The Safety usually has to account for him and that can open up a hell of a lot for Gates and the rest of the crew. I like to get my fullback involved in the passing game as well, but I usually use a Dual HB package since Neal is pretty slow or I move LT around from HB-FB via the packages from the Near/Far formations when I use Seattle's PB.

...Vincent Jackson is an absolute terror! I have implemented him into my #2 role and started using him on the Slants and Flag patterns. He is almost unstoppable. His jump, height and catch make him an go to guy. You won't believe me until you try, so after reading this post go and play a game and abuse the CB trying to cover him. Seriously fellas, last night I am playing the Cowboys, and I finally started using V-Jack as a staple to my offense. Not exact numbers, but, 8 Receptions - 250 Yards - 2 TD's (the second one coming in OT). Just throw it up to the guy and he'll come down with it. Now mix that in with TNT (Tomlinson, Neal, Turner), E. Parker, K. McCardell and throw in the All-World TE, you have a serious offensive juggernaut. Please go and try V-Jack in an online game, record his stats and come back to this thread to spread the love for Mr. Jackson!

Ballers, In the TB pb there is a play SB-2WR Flex hitch corners. I line up Osgood and Jackson in the slots. Both run corner routes and they are deadly!. Check it out. ;)

If streaks, posts and fades beat cover 2 zones, what beats cover 3 zones?

Work the flats.

Given you're a SD man... should be sweet with LT.

Cheers,

Jackson is very fun to use. His jumping is off the hook.

Well...I went home and inserted V-JACKS in my lineup and bumped parker to the slot. I ran a fade to Jackson, and wouldn't ya know it, 25 yard gain!!! later in the game after pounding the run, went PA to V-JACKS for 7! I may have found the weapon that gives SD the dimension that they have been lacking. Now, if EA would just give Philip Rivers his due respect.............

i know this is an offensive chargers thread but since there are so many charger users i would like to ask:

Do you guys blitz merriman on nearly every play and do you blitz him with playmaker or do you pick a play with a blitz planned for him already?

Thanks:D

I don't send him every play but I send him a lot. A real lot. There's an 85-90% chance that he's coming. I'll move him around too. LOLB, ROLB, ILB.

Yeah, dude is really wild off the edge. :D I blitz the hell out of him also. I like to send him from the 4-3-Under a lot and if it's man coverage that usually means Donnie Edwards is matched up on the TE so that's always a good matchup for you, dude is in perfect position to blitz from that formation. He's pretty much a mis-match for most backs and TEs, he'll will eventually get to the QB. I wish I could package in both Phillips and Merriman at DE whenever I wanted and still get the same quality rush, but their not that good at that in the game they get knocked on their @sses or simply blocked, as opposed to real life you can put them down in 3pt stance and they still wreck havoc, not in the game unfortunately. Funny thing is if you sub in Merriman at DE, he becomes a 99 OVR, but he don't play like it. When I run the 4-3 though, I sub in Phillips at RDE and place Godfrey at ROLB in his spot.

Dude, they need to bump the enitre team up. The Chargers should be 90 offense and 87 defense, at least. Not fair  lol

What playbook best suits the Chargers? Marty ball is basically running the football so I use Pittsburgh's book. What books are you guys having success with???

I use Seattle's playbook. 3-4 on Defense.

Same here. Have you guys seen the Texas play in Near-pro in Seattle's book? It is a zone destroyer.

Also, now since the roster updates, what is your depth chart for Wr?

Yes I use that play, I use it out of the Splitbacks also. I do my main passing out of the Far-TightTwins tho, along with the I-Form-TwinWR/3WR and Weak-I-TwinWR. My best production probably comes from the Far-TightTwins. Also check out the play called "Pump N Go" out of I-Form-Normal/3WR, it's great to hit your outside WRs deep, they gain nice separation after the initial move and since the Charger's WRs are pretty slow this play helps them. Seattle's book has a nice Singleback section as well, but I prefer the others so much that I usually don't even touch the Singleback sections anymore.

WRs:
1. McCardell
2. Parker
3. Jackson
4. Gates (Subbed in)
5. LT (Subbed in)

So you still take Jackson over Floyd? They have similar stats

I plug in who ever is rated better and I believe Jackson is. Right?

Either way, to tell you the truth, I don't use many 3-5WR sets and if I do Gates and LT are in there since I package them in. For example, if I go I-Form-3WR, I have Gates subbed in at the SlotWR spot. So both Jackson and Floyd are out of the picture. I run mainly 2back with SEA's Playbook.

Dude, I told you guys. Now Big Hurt, insert Mr. Malcolm Floyd. After the recent roster update and due to his great game in Cincinnatti a couple of weeks ago, they really boosted his attributes. He is now my number 2 guy and Jackson moves to the slot (sorry Parker, he isn't returning Punts for me neither; try Turner for that, he is a beast!!!) Now I have 6'4" Gates and 6'5" Jackson, Floyd and Osgood and all with mid 90's jumping abilities.

By the way, I am a huge U of M fan and Manningham is the shyt!

I like to put Keenan at the number 1 WR and Vincent "Darrent Williams Can't Hold Me" Jackson at number 2 WR. For the third WR I use Gates and fourth I use LT like BooBoo does.
