I try to make posts that can help peeps,so Im wondering what defenses you guys run the start of the game on 1st down, and what u usually run on 1st downs throughout the game.I run Cover2 PB(its nasty:cool: )and I know I love 2 Man Under with my delayed bump outta 3-4 and 4-3 Under flipped. And other times I come out in Cover3 with the CBs manned up in man to man coverage or with 4-3 ThunderSmoke. So lets hear what yall guys run....

1st downs are usually when the opponent has no fear, so I try to put the fear in him by having a 6-7 man rush right off the bat. The key is to disguise it to look like something else. Sometimes Ill freeze my D, other times Ill back offeveryone but the corners to try and make it look like loose coverage. This off coarse is assuming that he doesn't pick it up or is alignment doesn't look like it will beat me.

3-4 CB blitz with the Dline pinched in and spread. There is someone man2man on the TE and OLBs are in purple zones with Safeties in blue coverage. Does good against the run. Killz PA with the Bengals and Joseph starting at corner with O'neil. that puts them in 2nd and 15 or better and I move to my 2-4-5 and bring even more heat on second down. Stopping first down give you a lot of 3 and out opportunities.

3-4 Engage8 w/mods, 3-4 CB Blitzes w/mods, 3-4-DoubleX/Z modified into a Cover2 man under, 3-4-OLB Dogs Fire, 3-4-Weak/Strong Blitz. Nickel-3-3-5-Engage8 w/mods, Nickel-1-5-5-Engage8 w/mods, Nickel-2-4-5-2Man Under,... That's about it, those are my main blitz packages and I usually always freeze the Defense if I'm using Zone. Occasionally Dime & Quarter, but I usually man up with Dime and Quarter and send one blitzer off the wide side of the field, more of a prevent type D. I just like to keep the heat on no matter what Down it is and prefer to Zone blitz, particularly from the 3-4 & Nickel sets. I prefer man coverage out of 2-4-5, 3-2-6 & Quarters, though the 2-4-5 can be sick for Zone blitzing as well.

What do you do with the 2-4-5? If I bust it out too early I get eaten up on the ground. Its beast against the pass.
As lame is at sounds, I use only a 2 man pass rush with it a lot. 2 Man Under, delayed BNR, blitz ROLB straight down. Then I usually playmaker both DTs to some zones (usuallly deep curl [purple] or deep zone). The OLBs get downfield fast, the receivers are bumped, and I have 2 deep coverage over the top. Great 3rd down defense.

I usually try to start out with just str8 man under with no bump or no adjustments to just get a feel for what they are trying to do. Either that or a 3-4 cvr3 with my line spread and my lb's pinched if they have a back that can get the edge with counters IE: Tiki, LT etc.
