I play against a friend of mine and he normally play with 3 to 4 down linemen.
Question; which defenses has 3 down linemen? And which has four?

I know there’s Nickel 335 and 3-4 normal has 3 down linemen, my questions are there any other that has 3 down line men?

I am trying to read the formation at pre-snap to help w/ my offence productivity
As far as reading if it’s Nickel 335 or nickel normal, or regular 3-4 or dime.

Any Tips?

Thanks~~~~~

3 Down Linemen formations are as follows:

3-4-Normal
3-4-Over
3-4-Under
3-4-Solid
Nickel-3-3-5
Dime-3-2-6
Quarters-Normal
Quarters-3Deep

The difference between the Nickel-3-3-5 & the Nickel-Normal/Strong is that the Nickel-Normal/Strong have 4 Down linemen, 2Linebackers & 5DBs as compared to the 3-3-5 which has 3 Down linemen, 3 Linebackers & 5DBs. So the difference is that the 3-3-5 has an extra Linebacker in place of a Defensive tackle and vice versa. You can visually see the difference, just look at the D-line first, then work your way up.
