What is the logic behind the plays that are chosen on offense when using "Ask Corso"? Is the play chosen simply based on down and distance (and occassionally time such as within the last 2 minutes of each half)?

Or does the "Ask Corso" playcall have anything to do with the default team's coaching style that is built into the game (which you can view in dynasty mode)?

What about the playbook chosen...does that influence the "Ask Corso" playcall beyond the fact that certain books may have a higher number of running plays than others?

I thought it was based on down and distance.

Yeah I'm curious if the "ask Corso" play is the same one the computer would have called had it been playing. In other words does the CPU A.I. use the same algorythm to make its play calls as Ask Corso does?

Corso is a total moron who should never be consulted unless someone is holding a gun to your head screaming "You better ask Corso!"

But I always thought it was down and distance, too. There is one mistake, though, in that when he means you should run the "victory" QB kneeldown, on my game he always picks some weird fake field goal play.

Hee Hee, really the only time I like Corso is in that dog groomer commercial.. "Pink.. Mr Beasely would like Pink".. other than that I think is a fantastic pencil salesman.. hey who wants to hear another story about the sunshine scooter, Burt and Tj? Raise your hand!

But what do I know I'm such a goof, I've been very tempted to sit down and scout every play that Corso or Madden in 05 call defensive and offense, then compare it with what the AI calls for the cpu's team see if there is any kind of comparable data upon which a game plan can be constructed.

If anybody ever does this I'd love to know your results. I'm looking for a three game sample if possible.

I have thought about trying this with a team like Navy or Air Force or really any team that shows a running percent 70 or above in the coaching style. In playing with Memphis, it seems Corso rarely calls running plays unless it's within the last 2 minutes of the game. I think Memphis is 45% run, 55% pass.

I may play a game or two as Navy or with the Navy playbook and see what the ratio is like. I was just hoping someone else could verify what it is so I don't have to.

Well, I still don't understand it completely, but it's definitely more than just down and distance. I played a game with a custom playbook with Memphis and at the time they had 2 impact WR's and I would say the ratio was 80/20 pass/run. Then I played with the same team, but the impact player's were now 1 WR and 1 QB and the ratio was essentially the same. The following season, the only impact player on offense was at HB and the ratio, after a few games, now is closer to 50/50 with the same playbook and coach.
