just the basics

I've just received madden 07 for xmas. While I've always considered myself reasonably intelligent this seems very complicated. Is there anyone out there willing to give me some time and explain the basics to me? I'm not sure what I can offer in return but I'd really like to learn this game. Something for me and my teenage son to do together. Kind of important. Please. I would be grateful.

Guys here are more than willing to help you (for the most part), but you gotta ask more specific questions. Give us a list of about 5 questions at a time and you'll see that that will get the ball rolling and people will start posting stuff to help you out...
