Ok how do you stop the hike throw? I'm pretty much fed up with it anymore, I would think my D is decent enough to know a football is flying in their vicinity to swat/pick/do something. I have tried zones and man to man and anything else like making safeties play the flats and bring them down so they should cut RIGHT across the path of the ball and NOPE. Hike throw hike throw hike throw all the way down the field.

What I like to do is play man and have the defender shade to the inside of the field, that way he's in posistion to either swat the ball or I can then switch and hit stick a drop

Well I cant get shading to work like I want it either. For example, if I say Smoot who lines up on the left (looking at the field) and tell him to play left, who's left is it? His? WRs? I wish they used inside or outside. The same is true for my safeties, when I tell them to go one way it seems like they go a different way.

The delayed Bump-n-Run is the best way to stop the quick pass. I personally like to come out of the huddle in a zone D. Next, I back off my defenders using the triangle UP (on PS2). The announcer says "they backed off their defenders". This kinda even INVITES the quick pass. Then I put the defenders in BNR. Then I audible to man to man D like cover 2 man or something like that. This sets up the delayed bump and even invites the quick pass. A lot of times it will be broken up, and even sometimes you will cut off the wr's route and the ball will go right to your safety!

I agree with your inside/outside suggestion..
however for now..what your shading is the RECIEVER..so if you want to shade his inside shoulder and he's on the left side of the field, you shade right....if you want to shade his right shoulder (in this example it would be towards the sideline) you shade left....the opposite for a reciever on the right...

How do you do the delay bump and run?
Call Zone >>>> Bump and Run >>> Audible to a man to man defense
Or you can call Bump and Run and flip the play twice (I think)
DB's should bump about 3-4 yds down the field rather then right up on the line. You can also manually back you guys up if you want.

K Freeman is right.. if you call bump and then flip the play once it will delay bump as well just the play will be flipped.. so thats why a lot of people tell you to flip it twice.. but it works with just flippin the play once as well.

I am having trouble with people simply reading the hot routed fade. I have tried the shade and delayed bump and run, actually both on a few occasions and they will hike it with vision on primary reciever and if they think initial quick pass is gone, they will throw it deep and fast with a lot of lead, when they user catch it is hard simply because of jumping and catching abilities. Suggestions?!
