I've noticed in 06 & 07 that on playaction plays, offensive lineman go pass the line of scrimmage. I thought this meant illegal man down field. In a real game, defensive players read lineman to tell if the play is a run or pass. If the guard steps back, it's a pass. If the guard steps forward it's a run. If the guard pulls left or right, it's probably a sweep, toss, pitch etc. . If the guard just stands up in his stance, then it's usually a draw or quick pass. Question for ex football or football players- is it still illegal for offensive lineman to step across the line of scrimmage when a pass is thrown? If so, please EA fix this. It's messing up the game!

As a former QB and DB, back in the day , you were taught to read your keys(football language). On defense, you knew when to commit to the run or pass. You had one player on defense (usually the middle linebacker or safety) who would call out the play from defensive side of the ball. He would yell out "pass!" or "sweep!" or "run!." This was called "reading your keys." In this game (Madden06&07), a correct read is impossible against ground pound with playaction because of the A.I. which has the offensive linemen moving past the line of scrimmage. This is faulty and illegal in a real game of organized football. Therefore, the run or pass commit feature is useless against a running attack with playaction passing.

Recievers, backs, tightends, and eligible tackles(must notify refs before next play) are considered eligible recievers. NFL.com-NFL Fans states in the rules section - 5. The rules concerning a forward pass and ineligible recievers: (b) If an ineligible reciever is illegally downfield: loss of 5 yards. Wishlist- please fix programming problem.
