im gonna get that spread guide and i got a bogo offer in my email
so im debating wahington and compression guides
quick question... does anybody think using a team with a different teams playbook lowers its effectiveness???
i already got the one that comes out right before the game is released... i think thats the virtual playbook right? with the master play list and every teams playbook. by the way... thanks VG because thats the best value on the internet for anything related to video game guides... i have had to consult that every week since madden came out for 1thing or another.
about me...
i have been stuck in denvers book for years and only use denver for my team.
i need help getting rid of the ball sooner, because i use a lot of 2back twins and get sacked a lot trying to beat the heat by blocking in lieu of throwing quickly
i want to get some 4wr 1rb sets going but ive been frustrated by the execution of shotgun runs, lack of shotgun pitch plays and fake pitch playaction plays from any set.
im not really sure what compression means... i thought were talking about flooding 1 area with several receivers... like recently i heard kobra mention a flat/streak/corner combo. would that qualify as compression?
i hate throwing with the l1... lol i dunno just feels weird
i cant use any set that has problems like for example in denver i completely ignore the shotgun empty trey because when flipped i cant motion the slot despite the fact he appears to be "covered" by a wr on the line.
i have decent user catch abilty and post snap reads but need help with pre-snap reads and learning to throw the QPs.
i still havent learned when to and when not hit a slant

Compression no doubt. Much of the spread guide builds off the principles displayed in the compression guides. Plus, if you can use both, it makes you much, much better. Another good thing about those guides is they are based on schemes, so you can apply them to any playbook and any team you want.

I agree. Get the compression guide. It teaches you how to run a scheme instead of a particular playbook. Once you get the schemes down (spread and compression), you'll be able to use any playbook in the game that contains those formations, thereby making you a harder player to defend.

thanks guys
i looked throught the wash playbook and im gonna go with your suggestions
im just not sure i wanna run that much singleback even though there are some sweet lookin plays in there.
besides maybe with compression i can somehow stay on my dinosaur 1 more year and stick with the denver playbook
im practicing some with arizona just in case though
do the guys who write the guides play ps2 online? because after i practice for an hour and 15 minutes im gonna wanna pull an anakin skywalker and attack my master with my new weapons :D
man, i hope they add something new to denvers playbook next year
am i the only one who does this or do some guys stick to their team and playbooks....
as a bonus can someone tell me why everyone who throws a streak on me can hit their wr in perfect stride every single time:confused:

Because they practice at it. Likewise, fan your safties, practice clicking on, and use the swat technique. As far as playbooks goes, I run with the usual good ones (Philly, Seattle, TB, and Oakland) but lately, I've been running the Pats, Skins (good guide Kobra), and the Rams book. The Pats is all spread and the Rams has a good dose of both (spread and compression). Like I said, when you learn a scheme, you'll be able to use just about any playbook. Since I play in an online league, I switch my playbooks up to keep my leaguemates from sitting on what I'm doing from week to week. Just make sure whatever book you choose to use, it fits the personnel of the team you're running. Found that out the hard way using the Pats book with the Ravens. They just don't have enough weapons to use that book to it's potential. You use a team like the Rams with that book, look out. Speed everywhere.

i have this weird feeling that using a team with the same playbook makes the plays more effective but i also think the game conspires against me lol
about the streaks i was kinda kidding but lately there are times... like today im trying some new plays on this clown who was just running backwards and tossing up all kinds of crap... and then i fumble the punt & he throws up like 3 passes for a td... then i get it back and on 3rd and long i hit smith wide open in the middle dragging the 1st down line and then like a full second later BAM!!!! he drops it makes me so mad i almost pee on myself... ok done crying breathe menace breathe
i have spent more hours practicing user picks than... i dunno but its a ton. and if i can get there in time its all good but lately every single pass that goes up is somehow a perfect 60 yd strike even when the qb is doing dumb ****, i have desperately been trying to find blitzes but no luck
anyway.. i got the guides today
and i have been using these principles forever
i even see some of my plays in there...
in the first page of the comp301 is the weak i tight twins wr corner play that i suggested to someone the other day except the route i hit for the big payoff is changed to a hook
the 1st 4wr play featured in the spread guide was the reason i wanted to go to arizona and carolina playbooks
so i am much more confident in my plays now and i think i can keep running denver.
but i am worried now since it seems my plays have been good all along and im just not finding the timing or making the play quick enough. basically i have no more excuses for sucking
