Online Cheating

Ok, I would just like to know one thing! Is it possible for people to cheat online? I do not desire to cheat so don't think I am asking so I can learn how to. I just want to know if that is what is happening? I played this guy today and I was the dolphins and he was of course Vikings. Now I fumbled or threw an INT every time I had the ball. I used double z, double x, cover 4, and every other defensive play I thought could cover him and no matter what Moss caught the ball. It was 41-0 in the first quarter. I have played quite a few games online but this one was just impossible. So again is it possible for people to use cheat codes or cheat devices online?

Next, I bought the virtual playbook and I can't seem to figure out defense. I mean I can normally stop the run but I can't get it balanced. I don't set audibles cause I am not really sure what I am setting them for. I guess I never really have a game plan. Can anyone give me a breakdown of what they normally do when they start a game online? What are you looking for and what is your strategy? I am not asking for exact strategy just some direction.

OK. First. With the Dolphins. A good choice to play with them against the Vikes cuz there D is good. But they have a horrible offense. Well i used to play with them and still do every once in awhile. But just to say, they suck unless you are amazing on O. Well to stop Moss alls i do is play Man Cover 2, and take a linebacker and guard him myself with him too. I dunno if there is a glitch for better catching or interceptions and fumbles everytime. I dont think there is. I always set my audibles, O and D everytime before the game. Its how I play. I need to have audibles. If i see that the guy is gonna have my people covered, im gonna audible to a right play. But well i dunno what else to say, ask anymore questions, ill be glad to answer them. :D

Sorry to say this, but the other guy wasn't cheating... Moss is just that good. At 6'4" and with tremendous jumping ability, he is probably the hardest WR on the game to stop... Especially because of Culpepper's and Bennett's legs. All three are tought to stop. But you gotta start somewhere.

Take Moss out of the game first, then Bennett, and Culpepper should follow suit. To do it, you will need a game plan.

Figuring out HOW to take Moss away from the offense is not an easy task, especailly if you don't have at least 5-6 ways to do it.

If you double moss with man coverage, sooner or later, the offense will find a route that beats man coverage and both defenders will look silly...

If you do a "fake double", with a man and a zone, sooner or later, the offense will spot the weakness there too...

What you will need to do is mix your coverages. cover over the top witha safety, then man up with the safety and cover over the top with a CB.

your plan will be successful if:

1) You can dictate down and distance to get the offense to force the ball deep to Moss on 3rd and long plays.

2) You can silence Moss and make Kleinsausser or that other WR kill you. LOL

3) You can have enough players on Moss at the time when the QB looks to throw to make him hesitate and take a sack.

4) You keep an eye on Culpepper so he can't run for the first.

Typicaly I do pretty well against the Vikes because I gameplan to shut down Moss and Bennett. PM me if you want some specifics.

He might have been Jet Packing Moss which would be virtually unstoppable, and maybe the combination of his skills and your offense being weak is what bogged you down offensively.

Jetpacking Moss is hard to stop... But saying it's "virtually unstoppable" is incorrect.

There are ways to triple cover Moss on eny given play with playmakered zones, mixed with man coverage. In fact... I do pretty well against most people that jetpack with Moss. So well in fact that if my opponent attempts too many deep throws, I tend to have more INTs than he has completions.

A jetpacking Moss is very stoppable. But you gotta keep in mind, it is Randy Moss, he is gonna catch a few in double and triple coverage. But with the game plan I use against the Vikes, I'll take my chances.

And... the online glitch thing is a bit overstated. Not everything that is called a glitch is actually a programming problem. in fact, most of it isn't.

I was saying virtually unstoppable because of his height and his jump ability compared to any DB in the league. If you play a guy that is proficient at Jetpacking, you are in for a real long day. That is what I meant, the game gave the advantage to the WR's and not the DB's

I woulodnt call JetPacking Moss cheating.. THe designers of the game saw fit to give him 99 jump rating (stupid).. They don't reduce this rating for hits/fatigue/etc.. So lets say CHEESE was programmed in.. Now those who do it all the time are just plain stupid and I find such a game boring..

So this is what happened! I was online the other night and I was asking around in the rooms how do you get ranked? Well it seems that nobody could give me a straight answer except that you have to "WIN". Well my record is 19-15. Not a great record but in my book it is ok considering I have felt that I have played a few cheaters online. I have not quit in any of my games.

Well this guys pm's me and says that he will show me how to get ranked and give me codes to use game shark. I do not own game shark but needless to say I was curious. he told me just to play him. I didn't want to but he said for me to just go into a game so we could talk. So we go into a unranked game and he tells me to give him 3 wins and he will give me the code to use in game shark to get past EA. Now I was really skeptical and didn't want to do it cause I felt that that is how is was getting "RANKED". Telling people this B.S. to get the wins. Well, he started to show me how to Jet Pack. I didnt see what he was talking about really cause I was stopping Randy Moss on almost every play.

Well I finally said ok. I changed my user name and came back and said fine lets do it. he told me to just get a saftey and then quit. Or, he told me to score a touchdown and let him score one and a safety then quit. Now this is where it got interesting. I asked him if I quit won't he have to play the whole game? He said no I have game shark and will be done in less than 30 seconds. I asked how and again he said GS and he has the code. Well I quit the game and go to his name and watch the score on my buddy list. Within 15 seconds he went from the 1st quarter with 4 mins left to the end of the game with a win. "15" seconds.

So I would like to know what you guys think. By the way of course he left without giving me a damn thing. But I have to say that he did give me one thing. I honestly think it was woth it to find out if it was possible to cheat online. In my opinion he does have Game Shark. Now if you guys can explain to me how he went through the game "So" fast I am convinced that you are able to use Game Shark online and I will not hesitate to call someone out on it if I feel they are. So to those people that hate to be called a cheater sorry, but there are people that can use cheat devices so that is something that you will have to live with. If anyone would like his user name I will provide it. let me know what you guys think. Oh, and by the way HOW DO YOU GET RANKED? Imean I can't get under 10000 mark.

He has 4 wins from a guy called Lil MaFiAbOY and they are wins by the score of 225-0. So I guess I am right about this guy. I just don't get why EA can't stop people from using these devices. It makes online play terrible and on top fo that us people that do play straight and buy things like the Virtual play book and it becomes kind of worht less. Not worthless cause it has improved my game tremendously. I hate calling people cheaters when playing them but this is why I do it sometimes. There is no way you can get ranked when you have people like this at the top. Again let me know what you guys think.

i have madden pc and got it 3 days after it was released. i have played over 400 pro play games and hundreds more of non ranked ones. i have come to the conclussion that people that use those teams seem to play very cheesey.

i have played minnesota several times. if you think someone throwing the ball 40 yards to randy moss 5 times a game is realistic or good play you need to some pills. rany moss is a GOD in this game. i play with the raiders and he will out run Cwood and get burned by him 95% of the time. he can stay with him for 7 or 8 yards, but every time all people do is send rany moss deep and he can outrun dual coverage or make insane jumps in double coverage. that coupled with the speed of culpepper and bennet and its something i rather not play unless i know the person is going to play str8. i have seen people use moss as a 3rd string wr. ive seen him assinged as a TE. this is just insane.


i stoped playing the falcons early on, online. people would just run with vick every other play. a damn qb shouldnt be running for more yards than a rb. people would come out with 4wr/1rb and then decide to run. you cant manually cover vick beause he can out run any LB or DE. hes fast, but the game has given him olympic speed. now occasionaly he would get the **** knocked out of him and fumble, but for the most part i rather not deal with him or the cheesy people taht use him.

the rams and eagles are teams i play occasionally, however i see alot more people cheesing more with the rams. torry holt is one of those unstopable WRs that will outrun 95% of cbs. if you use bnr or not he still can outrun.


too much power is given to WRs with speed. they can simply just run over or have their way with the secondary. CBs need to be given more consideration. charles woodson shutdown randy moss in the game they played last seasons. check the stats for that game, moss had barely any touches.

im not afraid of "good players", after playing hundreds of game on EASO i want straight players. im in several offline leagues and play against those teams all the time. sometimes i win, sometimes i dont. however, when people arnt going deep with moss or TO every other down, or deciding to rush with 4 wrs if they have a scrambling QB then i can handle that better than %90 of all the cheese that people online do when they are those teams.

Try to find better competition, ask a couple of questions, see if they are a VG member and look to see what kind of ideas they have expressed in their posts. Thats about all I can tell you, but to come here and whine about unfair online game play like a baby is ridiculous

You know what Hobbs, when I made my first post I was asking if it was possible to cheat online. All I wanted was an answer to that question. Either you can use game shark or code breaker online or you couldn't. All I got was no the guy was jetpaking or he was just a good player. I felt the guy was cheating and when I accused him of it he told me that it is impossible to cheat online. I came here for the answer which I did not get. Not from you or anyone else. It took me about 6 months to find out that yes you can cheat using a cheat device online. For you to say that I am whining is just plain ignorant. Next time why don't you try and answer the questions I posed in my first post before you accuse me of whining. The bottom line is people come to this site to get tips and strategies to try and combat the problems they face online. One of them happens to be the biggest problem and that is "ONLINE CHEATING". So my advice to you would be. If you have nothing to add to help solve the problem then don't bother posting in a thread that is titled "ONLINE CHEATING". I am sure you have been around this board a while and might even be well respected by others. But frankly I don't care. Next time have something to say!!!

To be quite honest with you, you came out and started instantly describing how the game went and how you felt you were being cheated, but you also added that you played the Vikings, and I responded that the WR's have an unfair advantage because of height and jumping ability compared to any DB. This was taken directly from an article in the VG Filmroom back sometime near the end of last year. There was quite a disparity between the best jumpers in the league from offense to defense, and if you add in the ability of a person who has great button pushing ability to manipulate the AI into having a even the regular WR be able to jump 5 yards in the air then there is no way that a DB will ever be able to shut down a moss or burress. There are too many glitches available, just do a search and check out the pass the cheddar thread. Yes I may have been hard on you, but we have all heard the complaining too many times and of course all the truly not exciting details of how a player got cheated. If you look under Joe Torontos name and I believe Rico's as well they have in their signatures all the str8 players they play against. Luckily I have X-box this year and unfortunately will have to deal with the online BS if I even care to take part in it next year.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune, I apologize for being a bit harsh, just your post mimics about 10,000 other posts since September of last year. I've read the complainers as well as the guys that bragged about how good they were at cheating. This game is incredibly fun and addictive, and it is unfortunate how a glitcher or cheater can remove the fun and make a person miserable for an inordinate period of time. You may have been glitched or you could have been jetpacked either way you felt you didn't get a fair game.

I got Madden 2004 the first day it was released and have logged over 700 games... So we both play quite a bit...
I use the Panthers (sometimes the Steelers).

If you took offense at my ribbing you for your comment... it WAS taken as it was meant. I'd never tell you who you should play, or who you shouldn't. But I will make a determination as to what type of player you are when you say you hide from certain teams. Refusing to step out on the field because of what you "think" might happen makes you and anyone else that won't play certain teams... for lack of a better word: SOFT. Using "cheese" as a shield to get others to see eye-to-eye with you only completes the "DUCK and COVER."

No matter what you are AFRAID of... it doesn't make hiding from good teams noble nor does it earn you any respect from any FOOTBALL players. Respect from anyone else, isn't worth mentioning.

I'm sure your'e a really NICE GUY. That's good. But it's not good when you are on the football field (virtual or otherwise). While your offensive linemen practice playing patty cake, mine will be laying down some pain.

That's football... Try punishing the other guy for playing a style you don't like. Then punish him for playing a style you do like... JUST PUNISH HIM. But never run.

im not, "AFRAID" to play anyone. i have played all those teams plenty of times. won some of them, lost alot too. through observation i have seen that its virtually rare to see someone that uses the vikings that plays str8. In fact the InVerse of what you say is true as well. i have played people ranked much much higher than myslef, and when it looks like your going to beat or win them theyll quit on you or lagg you out. so i dont really care about earning "respect" of cheesers online.

online at EASO on my buddylist i have at least 40 names of people that ive played that have quit, lagged or were cheesing most of the game. when i go online to play, i post i want a "str8" and every time i get at least 1 or 2 people on that list trying to play me.

Not to sound like I'm demeaning you personnally... But I'm just as tired as you are about people that quit, pull the plug, etc...

I have a problem (one of many) with people that "PUNK OUT" (for lack of a better word) just because of the team someone uses.

When I was the Falcons owner in one of my leagues, I had the hardest time finding games to practice online against live competition. Not because of "cheese," but based soley on the team I wanted to use. They would see the "Falcons," and immediately decide...

"I'm too scared to play against them"

On the one hand, I understand why someone wouldn't want to play against the teams you mentioned... But it never excuses the action of bailing out based on the team the other guy picks...

Base the decision on stats, disconnect percentage, maybe even their online reputation... But not the TEAM.

That's slightly ridiculous, IMO... Saing you want a certain style of play is one thing, being scared to play is something else. Alienating the top 5 most dangerous teams as a result of this fear is less than noble. In fact, its WRONG. It's like charging someone for a crime because of the type of shoes they wear.

You know, I really don't understand why this guy is complaining about someone picking the Vikings when the Dolphins are one of the most STOCKED teams in the game! Their defense has virtually NO weaknesses (except for their outside LB not named Seau)... and he's not even terrible.

On offense, they've got a top 3-5 RB in the game, a top WR, a good TE, and a decent oline. The offense isn't great, but its MUCH better than Philly IMO.

How can someone who plays with the Dolphins complain about someone picking the Vikings? The Dolphins defense is filled with probowl players. Its laughable IMO...

Jet packing is easy to stop even if it is Randy Moss. I just play man coverage with two deep safeties. I control the safeties to double Moss deep.

It's all about matchups for me. If someone picks the Vikings, Redskins, Chiefs, Falcons, all the teams with fast RB, QB, WR or whatever, I just pick a team with a fast defense like the Cowboys.

Also Mick Vick is not that hard to stop. All you need is fast defensive ends and linebackers. I used Titans, Dolphins, Panthers, etc.

Ultimately, the cheating issue lies on the back of EA Sports and their EA Sports Nation. The makers of this game had better find a way to fix the online cheating problem, or people won't participate. From what I've researched, the 2005 Madden edition is a Defensive minded game, while 2004 was offensive minded. The alternative to not fixing the cheating issue is simple, people will buy something else!
Cheating is widespread on this game...whether it is roster glitching, Jetpacking, GameSharking, or whatever, it sucks for people who just want to play a straight up skill game. I have faith in EA Sports and all I've heard about Madden 2005...I think we will finally get to see who can truly play. No more 4th and 20+ conversions, no more Vick running everywhere, no more Jetpack to Moss and Owens, no more WR at TE, etc, etc.. EA has addressed all of these issues!
