Madden 08 the year to skip?

Is it just me or am I feeling that Madden 08 would be a good year to save the $50 and buy something else? For me it just seems like it won't be worth it this year. I've got 19 credits and GTA 4 coming out. Also I just haven't been impressed by what I've read about it. Seems like they are just repackaging the same things over and over. It's like $50 for a new patch for a game.

Lol I'm actually supposed to have a fight in August. We might be doing two shows so it'd be either the 11th or 25th. I'll make sure to keep folks updated.

I agree. FINALLY after 2 years (for 360 owners) of AWFUL games this year looks complete, finally!

That's alot of hours. You're going to be very busy. I'm willing to bet cg got the short end of the stick this year, as far as new features and improvements. That being said, GTA gets very old, very quick for me. Except for the one where he's in the 80's. I love that one and I still play it on the pc.

I cannot wait for this game .. I played 07 so little last year namely due to wanting to unrealistically-gut the Falcons roster every Franchise started .. I was hating our WR corps and Secondary so much

but I like what the team has done in real life

I'll take 06 with updated rosters and tweeked AI for $50 at this point, along with NCAA imported draft classes for another $50

they do seem to show some of the worst parts of madden coming back with a vengeance...

Now that you mention it... no actually it doesn't. The German fulfill Gen Ed req, the marketing class covers major (sport management and minor business management), the media message design covers a certificate, and the other two cover my minor.

The bottom line is this...unless the blocking (particularly the run blocking) has been addressed it really doesn't matter what new features are gonna be in the game. And to be honest with you...I still haven't seen a video (madden or NCAA for that matter) which focuses on the improved blocking.

Check that out Vito. I LOVE how the lineman come off the double-team and attack the 2nd layer of defenders. The more vids I see of Madden 08, the more excited I get about the NG version. 06 SUCKED. 07 was "ok", but it SERIOUSLY needed to have the CG features. It looks like this is the year Next Geners get all features back. I'm gonna have to get re-adjusted to formation shifts and def-hotrouting since I haven't used it in 2 years! lol

I must admit I like what I see. I hate to be a hater, but I did notice that these plays were in the "practice mode" and not in a real game. We all know that the cpu tends to be world-beaters in a real game.

All that being said, if what I saw is on the up and up...I'm all for it. Its just gotta be consistent.

P.S. Did you know if the QB cone was going to be on the NCAA game as well, and will be mandatory or optional for both games? Don't get me wrong I believe that it just makes us all better at going through progressions, I'm just curious.

I can't say for sure, being that I never WILLINGLY use the cone on NG (thankfully its not mandatory and you can activate it if you chose to during a play). IF my cone comes one I've either 1) accidently moved the Right-thumb stick on a pass or 2) changed my first-read reciever b/c it puts the default cone on that player like CG. I REALLY hope this doesn't change. It gives both players a chance to play how they want. If you want to use the cone for looks-off and accruacy, or if you just want to make your reads and throw as usual.

Good deal. Now what about Read-N-React Defense. My main concern for the last couple of years was that it wasn't exactly realistic. For example:

1. The key to the defense knowing that a run play is coming isn't simply the linebackers running downhill and filling the holes, its also (and more importantly) the safeties coming up as well.

2. Conversely, its not just the safeties dropping back deeper when the defense knows a pass is coming, its the linebacker dropping back further as well. The only place where I saw a "true Tampa 2" last year was in the NCAA game. In Madden I had to use On-The-Fly audibles in order to create my own.

Now I do realize that there is a HUGE risk-reward factor here, but that's what Read-N-React is all about isn't it?

By the way I appreciate you getting back to me in a timely manner. Most of the time when I ask a plethora of questions, I don't hear anything back for a few weeks. Good looking out.

Maybe you just rent CG Madden when it comes out and see what you think. If you are feeling the changes, pick it up. Speak to people on the forums you trust and get their opinions once they get the game ... Go that route ...

Thanks. I only work part time so it isnt too bad. German wasn't that hard I got through the first year no problem and the professor said the 2nd year was a lot less work.
