Here is what's in the filmroom this week. Sorry for the delay.
July 27, 2007
3-4 Under Pinch (NG) - It's been a week and a lot of you have been getting it in on line pretty serious. One thing that I am seeing a lot of, as expected is the use of West Virginia's QB and the QB Choice plays. If you are not familiar with running this offense then it may be hard for you to defend it at first. I will give you a play that can really limit the success of this scheme and also keep the offense worried about the heat.
Confusion With Package Subs (NG) - I must say, coming over from current gen to next gen one of the best things implemented into this year's game is the aspect that your opponent can't see what formation you're in. The only thing he can see is your personnel. Offensively, you can use that to your advantage to create a lot of confusion and mismatches. If you're anything like me, once you get inside the 5 yard line, it's hard to punch the ball in to put 6 on the board. Using package subs, I've been able to create a lot of confusion for my opponent.
Ace Big Twin TE PA Attack (NG) - If you have the virtual playbook you got a glimpse at our section on the One Back Offense. Today I want to add another play to the arsenal. I will look at the Ace Big Twin TE PA Attack against both man 2 deep and cover 3 zone coverage.
Western Michigan Playbook (NG) - This week we take a look at a smaller school's playbook. The Western Michigan Broncos is a well balanced playbook with a good mix of formations. There are five Ace formations, three I-Form formations, four Shotgun formations, two Strong I, and one Weak I. The Ace Normal Slot has a total of 24 plays in it. The Ace Trips Bunch is one of the formations you will be sure to want to check out due to some of the bump-n-run beaters. If you like play action, the Broncos playbook has 48. If you like to the run the option, no problem, there are 38 plays that can be found.
Nickel Monster 3 (CG) - I was just messing around the other day with the game and ran across this play. Usually, I'm more of a 4-3 user on defense, but I was tinkering around with the 3-4. That's when I found this highly unusual play that I've never seen before. It's actually a 2-4-5 defense that I'm pretty sure has never been in the game. I was able to generate some pretty good heat with it, so I thought I'd share it with all of you.
Defending the Ace Speed Option (CG) - Defending Ace Speed Option can be a tough task. Add in an extremely fast QB like West Virginia's QB #5, and it could be a very long day for your defense. Today, I'm going to break a play down for you that will at least slow the Speed Option from Ace Big down so that you're not giving up huge chunks of yards. In today's write up, I'm going to play against West Virginia who not only has the fastest QB in the game, but also has one of the best RB's in the game in HB #10. Defensively, I'm going to play as Louisville who has only a B rating on defense. Let's take a look at what happens.
We will be posting another update this Friday.
