You know, I have been patient withe PS3, waiting for those big title games to come out. Other than the 8 launch games we got for the Playstation 3 in November and December, all of Sony's third party developers have given us is 360 portovers.
Eversince I saw the dragon game Lair debut at E3 Last Year (2006) I have been waiting for this game to come out and was one of my buying factors for the PS3 cause was a scheduled launch title.
The game as been postponed 3 times already and was scheduled to release next Tuesday (Aug.13th for sure). Now, Joystix's website is saying the game will be postponed AGAIN til a September sometime.
Its things like these the keep irrating me about the PS3. I dont dislike it, but its just irrating, I want to play the PS3 so bad, but the 360 keeps calling me back.

But is it because the 3 is hard to program for, or is the delay due to the developers? It's kinda hard to put the blame on Sony if it is the developer's fault.
btw, I own a 360 and not a ps3.

You guessed it right, damn another one. Just because your not vocal about the lack of selection doesnt mean I have to be. But, to be on the positive side:
+ The movie "300" came out on Blu-Ray, and its completely AWESOME, there is some much stuff on the extras, its unbelievable.
+ A non-360 or PS3 game, Guiter Hero: The 80's came out last week for the PS2 which is playable on the PS3 sure is alot of fun with the family.
So, not everything is gloom and doom.

I have no problem with you or anyone else being vocal about it. I just think that this little rant of yours could have gone in any of the other eight threads you've started bashing the PS3. Did it really need its own thread? Apparently, it did.

One the problems that the 3rd Party Developers complained about was the lack of support from Sony. When EA announced that Madden 08, NCAA 08, and All-Pro 08 were announcement that they would only run at 30FPS and the 60FPS and only 720p, Sony said we can do, why cant they do.
In defense of Sony, this issue was addressed at E3, and Sony publicly stated that if any 3rd Party Developer needed support, Sony would go out of there to help development.

I have heard that the development environment that Sony provides to developers is a little difficult to use while Visual Studio is provided to developers of the 360. While I can't confirm this, I have heard/read it from several sources. I am by no means an expert on Sony's dev environment but I have been using Visual Studio for quite some time and it is relatively easy to develop for. Also note that many people have prior experience with VS, which may not be the case for Sony's kit.
I think the problem that Sony is having is that the development problems seem to be arise from two different sources, the hardware and the dev kit. It seems that Sony is beginning to take strides in fixing the latter but not much can be done about the hardware.
And while I agree in that it will get easier as developers learn to program for the PS3, I very much doubt that it will ever be as easy to program for as the 360 not am I sure that this problem will ever go away. Alot of people like to point out that people have gotten used to it before. And while that is true, the two competing systems are more different now than systems were in the past. And as a result, the system that was released first has a huge head start, even if the systems were equal in difficulty to program for.
My advice to you is to be patient. Software development is very difficult to schedule for especially when using new technology. And while the development times for PS3 games may never be substantially decreased, the actual release dates will begin to better fall in line with what was promised.

After watching the E3 about aweek ago and from what they are saying how hard it has been to develop for the PS3, and the overall lack of support that the PS3 will never see the large amount of software like the the Playstation 2 had for games. There are pro's and con's to this.
First, the downside. Development issues will keep the game library slim, most mult-platform games will probaly be portovers, we see this with Rainbow Six Vegas, NCAA 08, Madden 08, Ridge Racer, Advanced WarFighter II, and Enchanted Arms are all examples of this. While these games have been very good, there are slightly inferior to the 360 counterparts even though the PS3 is just a superior machine.
Third party developers will be less inclined to make PS3 exclusive games when they can gain more profit from multi-platform games and port over that game to the PS3. Unless, Sony is willing to dish-out money for a exclusive license or special content like Microsoft is doing with their version of Grand Theft Auto (50 Million for 360 exclusive content) then we will see the same looking versions on both the PS3 and 360 versions.
Also, Third party developers are not wanting to invest into long term gaming developments with PS3 sales not meeting expected goals while Sony PS3 has increased by 137% since the price cut we should see some improvement in support , also, its taking more money and time to produce games for the PS3 because development deadlines cannot be met due to programming issues.
With that said, What you will see, for the exclusive games from third party developers and SCE will be high quality though-out games that will show the prowess of the PS3. While you not going to get a load of crappy games that no one cares about, your going to get your monies worth with every game purchase, good examples of these are games like Lair, Heavenly Sword, Unreal Tournament III, Haze, and Killzone II.
There are two ways to look at this and I am looking at this in a positive light, quality over quantlity is always better.
