So 4 or 5 players have caused some serious problems for themselves and grab lots of headlines. We take time out of our days/nights to read and/or talk about them.
But not much is ever said about the other 2,000 or so players in the league who do great things off the field & help out in their communities.
This thread is dedicated to them - they are real American heroes.
To start, below is a list of some charities and what the NFLPA does with them. Below that is a few things some of my Eagle's players do. I'd like everyone to post something that a player or two on their fav team does to help their fellow man.
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)
The NFLPA, in collaboration with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, participates in various community projects to help create awareness in the prevention of abducted, endangered and sexually exploited children.
This summer several NFL clubs hosted NCMEC child safety events during training camp. Each event provided information to kids and parents regarding child safety kits, photo and/or finger-print identification services as well as information on Netsmartz -- a new interactive program that teaches kids and teens how to stay safer on the Internet.

Feed The Children (FTC)
The NFLPA is an active partner with the international hunger organization Feed The Children. NFL players participate in various food distribution efforts throughout the year to benefit families in need. Through the efforts of FTC and the NFLPA, over 3,200 families in New Orleans, Detroit and New York have received food and hygiene items since January. Together, the NFLPA and FTC are on a mission to deliver food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disaster.
In addition, Feed The Children continues to play a significant role in our Native Vision Program by providing food, water and other supplies to hundreds of families on various reservations throughout the United States.

Boys & Girls Club
The NFLPA addresses a number of youth issues by partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to deliver key messages to hundreds of kids and young people through a variety of player appearances, special events, public service announcements, youth clinics and training camp visits.

National Education Association
The NEA is the nation's largest professional employee organization and is committed to advancing the cause of public education. The NEA's 2.8 million members work at every level of education—from pre-school to university graduate programs. The NFLPA is in its sixth year of a partnership with the NEA and we are proud of the positive educational messages we’ve distributed nationwide, from Washington, DC to Hawaii. Together we’ve placed players in campaign PSAs, hosted reading activities and challenges, and distributed promotional material, all to supplement the NEA’s reading initiatives.

Catapult Learning
The NFLPA has joined forces with Catapult Learning to create awareness about Catapult’s free, online, at-home tutoring for low-income and at-risk students. For eligible families, Catapult Online provides a child with a computer which can only be utilized specifically for the online classroom sessions with a live, certified teacher. Once the student completes the designated session requirement, they can keep the computer for free.
Catapult Learning recently conducted a two-hour educational workshop for parents at our Native Vision Sports and Life Skills Camp. The seminar was designed to educate parents on assistance programs and opportunities available for their children.

Training Camp for Life (TCFL)
In February 2006, the NFLPA and Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions launched Training Camp for Life, a one-day educational seminar aimed at providing high school juniors with the resources and information to assist them with the transition from high school to college life.
Each TCFL session is conducted at an NFL facility and features a variety of guest speakers, including current and retired NFL players who address a variety of topics and experiences related to on and off the field issues. Every seminar features information on the following subjects: ACT/SAT Test Strategies, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations, Peer Pressure/ Making the Right Decisions, Life after Football, Financial Literacy, the Dangers of Performance Enhancing Drugs and Making the Transition from High School to College.
Several hundred student-athletes participated in the pilot program that was conducted at the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens facilities this past off-season. Plans to expand the program for 2007 are underway. The program is also tentatively scheduled to be part of the festivities at Super Bowl XLI in Miami.

Donovan McNabb Foundation
The Donovan McNabb Foundation raises awareness of Diabetes through Donovan's position as the spokesman for the American Diabetes Association.

Lito Sheppard - Good Sheppard Foundation
