I play on PS2, and I've never EVER been able to get sacks on a regular basis with my RE or LE even though they are superstars like Seymour or Peppers or anyone while controlling them. Last time I could was on Genesis!! Best case scenario, the opposite linemate would get it.
What move do you use? Do you bull rush, swim or both at the same time? I've tried many combos and always end up nowhere near, or if I swim without a bull rush, I get pancaked.
I've tried isolating my DEs one on one with shifts, but to no avail...

I use Kearse and I just hit L1 and R1 and beat the lineman with speed and i get alot of pressure very often , not very hard at all...

Yeah, very seldom to I play on the line but if I recall I just keep tapping L1 or R1 and I beat the OL. If I remember correctly I usually used L1.

I personally like the inside bullrush a little better, especially by DTs or any of the 3 linemen in a 3-4. Rush down initially and press up on the R3 stick. He should shove the blocker aside and if you still haven't gotten the angle to the QB, I would then bust out a swim move or shove again.
I prefer to control LBs or Safeties though.
I'm having an easier time getting in on the manual rush this year than in previous years. I used to control safeties and LB's exclusively, but now I control Little quite a lot and wreak havoc in the backfield. Or I'll control Carriker for a bull rush, or maybe a swim or stunt move with Glover.
Keep practicing, it's not hard to do. You need to time the swim correctly otherwise you'll fall down.

I went and tried that and it works wonders. I just wanted to test it out to give my opponent a different look on passing downs. They think it's going to be easier to complete a pass and then BOOM! sack'em! lol
