In the 13 weeks of the third quarter (July 1, 2007 to September 29, 2007), the industry saw strong software sales and tremendous change within the arena of hardware sales. Early in July, Sony introduced a new $500 PS3 sku (the old $600 unit), and added more value to the price point at $600 (by including Motorstorm and more memory in the package). Following suit, Microsoft dropped the price of its three Xbox 360 skus during the second week of August. The pricing cuts boosted hardware sales for both companies, although Microsoft’s price cut seems to be having a longer lasting impact (although Halo 3 and Madden helped.). Here are the total numbers of hardware units moved over the 13 week quarter, along with average weekly sales.

1st number = Hardware ( )=weekly
DS: 1.512M (116k)
Wii: 1.349M (104k)
GBA: 272k (21k)
GC: 16k (1k)
PS2: 746k (57k)
PSP: 739k (57k)
PS3: 502k (39k)
Xbox360: 875k (67k)

The rest of the breakdown is here. Too much to cut and paste:
