There was a sig with Smoot falling down and playing off Lee Evans on a cushion -- which apparently he was wrong for doing though it was likely in the playbook  it's the same thing that DBs been doing to vertical WRs for years.
at any rate, here is the great Antoine Winfield falling down at around a minute in (http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d8034792e).
so much for Winfield being any different - LMAO

Dumb because the truth hurts and he doesnt even start on Washington or what?
T.J. Davis

Truth to what? Of course he isn't going to start when Redskins have Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers. That makes Fred Smoot the nickel back which he is doing a good job. Kevin, get over it already.

Smoot is garbage, its a good things hee's the nickel, less time for him to be playing, but to be behind those two isnt exactly saying much.

Although not saying much will be that the Vikings passing defense allows the most yardage in the league while the Redskins are fifth best. But we all know the reason because of that is because Vikings rushing defense is SO GOOD.

Uhh yeah why dont you see how many times they run against vs pass.
Worst pass D my ***, they get throw on 50 times a game, and still have a good vs Passer Rating.
but hey your call, apparently their run D is good when nobody runs on them.

Doesn't matter the top five teams in rushing are at least ranked top 15 expect the Titans (that's obvious). But not an excuse for a team that has Antoine Winfield and the "Best Safety in the League" Darren Sharper.
Ok, 41 attempts a game they get passed on, compared to Redskins 37.
I might say the Vikings might not be the worst but there is no excuse for giving up so much yardage and letting a KR score a TD on a passing down. Your overrating your home team to much Kevin King.

Do you have a point though? They throw 41 times and run only how many? Sounds like a good defense to me.
Although I agree, when Smoot was on this team they had the worst pass D. :D

My point is don't try to knockdown Springs and Rogers (I didn't include ST and LL) by saying that don't exactly mean much. While Redskins keep it balance on both sides while the Vikings don't.
WOW, Vikings rushed on 25 times a game compared to Redskins 22. Even the 49ers get rushed on more and don't give up as many yards or TD's in the air.
Anything sounds good to you if you witnessed it in the first quarter of exhibition games.
They're still one of the worst with or without Smoot. The facts approve of it but only you disapprove of it.

Um no, you are looking at YPG, not QB rating against.
Big deal they get 300 yards a game, but they also throw PICKS.
Go look it up.

LOL, were now determining picks as who is one of the best passing defenses. OK, how do you like 8:7 TD/INT ratio compared to Redskins 2:6 TD/INT. Even the Raiders have more picks and allowed less TD's. (6:9).
A majority of their Interceptions coming from Joey Harrington and Brian Griese isn't saying much at all, is it?

Uhmm well considering when you look at the stats that matter, like points scored a game (since thats what wins games) they arent last. If they were werent they be blown out every game? Teams score an average of 18 a game, when all they do is pass.
Sounds good to me.

Uhh ok, go look at NFL.com, go to Pass Defense and play with sorting and see where the Vikings are.
They are only last in yards, and last time I checked yards doesnt win ball games, points scored does and they arent last or near last in that area.

Um.that's total defense, we were talking about pass defense they give up more TD's than INT's enough said. Your skipping over documented facts. Until you come with somethign better your statement is invalid.

Wait, so a good pass D requires you intercept more than you let score? LOL!
I dont know the Vikes pass D numbers are likethis year but I know since their run D was historically good last year, their YPG was inflated, but their pass rating against was like 5th in the league. i dont know the #s with them last year but Id assume its a similar situation. Hence why I never believe in YPG as an indicator of how good or bad a defense is.
Can someone give me the Vikes defensive rankings?

24th in overall Defense
giving up a total of 90 points which is 8th in the NFL.
Run D is 2nd overall based on avg yards
Give up an avg of 18 a game, which is 13th in the NFL
Passing yards a game is last in the NFL, which it was last season.
All I care about is # of points given up, and STATS SHOW IT IS LOW.
Obviously, TJ this is for you, if teams cant RUN, they PASS, and if they are 9TH OVERALL IN THE LEAGUE IN POINTS GIVEN UP, that means they arent as bad as you want to make them out for.
Stats dont lie, I could care less if a team burns them for 500 a game if they only score an AVERAGE of 18 a game.

yep overall defense means jack sh1t to me. their D is above average as far as PPG, thats what counts.
and yes if teams cant run they will pass, thats quite obvious lol.

Yards don't mean *****, being an Eagle fan ive come to not only accept it but prefer it.
Points allowed is all that matters, and Minnys defense has in 5 games only allowed 16.6 PPG (I don't see why offensive turnovers returned for, or kickoffs returned for TDs should be counted against a defense) Very solid for a defense that gets passed on all game because of a great Run defense.

That's what you said. But, I'll take back about them being the one of the worst passing defenses but they aren't great either. I think there just average, especially after watching some of the Packers and Bears game. AND numbers aren't everything but some of the stats you just look at and be like ok, since there better than Redskins secondary way this and this looks like that besides them having a great rush defense.

I said that where??
I never said they were an AWESOME pass D, but the numbers are very inflated and how people act like they just get scored on like they were the Saints is stupid. They had 2 interceptions in the Bears game, and 2 forced fumbles. Sounds like a good D to me in that area. The 2 scores against them late against the Bears was a product of Prevent D and soft coverage.
I'd take the Vikes D over 80% of the NFLs right now, inflated junk given up in passing or not.

OK, that's cool. I was just defending the Redskins secondary that's all.
