I posted two plays at another forum and decided to discuss them here. Basically these plays are known as "Shuffle Option" plays. If any of you watched Utah play last season they ran this play on a few occassions from a variety of shotgun spread formations. I'm thinking to mysefl this would be a wonderful play to add to NCAA 2006. Could you imagine being in the shotgun spread and at the start of the play head down the line of scrimmage reading the playside defensive end's reaction to the play as it unfold? If he works up the field to take the quarterback you'll throw the shuffle pass to the halfback. If the end key's the back, you'll continue running the option with the quarterback while your play side slot receiver works to get into pitch relationsip. That would be a fun play to use if the blocking assignments are done properly. I'll post the diagrams later this evening.

Here are the play diagram for the Shuffle Option.
This play is known as a shuffle pass option. The quarterback will receive the snap and attack the end man on the line of scrimmage. The quarterback’s aiming point is roughly two yards outside the original alignment of the EMOL. If the end works up the field to attack the quarterback the quarterback will throw the shuffle pass to the back. The running back will run towards the inside hip of the play side tackle. The backside guard will pull and lead for the halfback. If the end crashes inside following the down block of the play side tackle, the quarterback will keep the ball and work up field. The play side slot receiver will step off the line and work to keep pitch relationship with the quarterback. He should be alert to receive the pitch. We really don’t get caught up on how the receiver steps off the line to get into pitch relationship with the quarterback.

Bomber...
Racking my brain here of where I've seen it..
Tony Demeo?
Duffner's Maryland
WVU
Toledo
Northwestern
maybe BYU
But I remember seeing a shuffle pass that also had the slot not getting into a pitch relationship but running a Bubble route.
The idea was to make the outside FORCE player have to cover the bubble and open that off tackle area even more!

That sounds like a big time winner there. I'm going to draw that up. Also, COG I finally got a chance to see the flexbone from the gun at work. Recently I caught a high school all star football game on Fox Sports Net and one of the coaches ran a run oriented shotgun spread offense. He had a very interesting gun flex package. I recorded the game and plan on going back and looking at the tape to diagram the plays. It was fun to watch.

Isn't that a hoot! I only read about the Shotgun Tri Option concept and I'm intrigued....
Oh I found a site you may appreciate bomber... scratching the surface of those crazy old Houston Cougar Jack Pardee John JenkinsRun and Shoot Days--

I ordered the Texas Video, I figured it would be good enough just as a historical reference (I remember hearing about this game back then). Also interesting is the tapes of the 89 games I never saw any 89 broadcast since the Cougars were on probation that year and could not be on a national broadcast (Too bad they don't have the SMU or the crazy 90 TCU game where both teams threw for over 500 yards a piece)
I'll let you know if its good stuff or some crazy guy with a few dusty old barely tracking vhs tapes (Like me :p ) I'm hoping its on the up and up and at least a decent copy of the orginal broadcast since they seem to have some affiliation with the University of Houston.
