Just found another great play with the one back set. You will need a speedy HB.....
The play is the HB Sprint out of the Ace Big. Put the WR in motion towards the Playaction side.....he will block any CB or SS on the side the play is running to. You have really two options here....if the defense is in a 3-4 you can usually run the ball over the G outside shoulder.....if they are in a 4-3 or nickel I will run to the outside....and just as I clear the Tackle I will do a spin move...this will freeze the RE and allow you to get outside....if you have a speedy HB it is good for at least 7 yards everytime.....it won't work if the defense shifts to the strong side with the LB's....if the line shifts the WR will pick up the OLB. I don't know if this has been shown in the filmroom...if it has I haven't seen it.
What do you think, Mad??

LOL I take it, Mad...that you tried it....and it didn't work.
I found that same thing when using an average HB......I guess you need a HB like I had in my dynasty....

It's a solid run play and it works the way you say it does. I primarily stay inside becasue on Heisman it's kind of tough at times to spin to the outside.

It is a solid run play , as Mad Bomber pointed out against heisman you can't bounce anything outside, it seems like you can't really bounce any run play on heisman outside. It seems to work better on AA default as do most run plays. Hey Bomber do you have success running against heisman with your spread attack? Talk about a tough task, you really have to make a quality read when using spread option and running the draw.

honestly when I play the computer, the only way i can muster a consistant ground game is to audible from a pass to a run and snap the ball before the cpu can adjust the defense. Otherwise the cpu knows right where your going and your right its hard to get to the perimeter.
I always get a kick out of the fact I can audible from a pass, (the defense changes), audible to another play ( the defense changes again) then audible to an outside run (the cpu changes the D shifts the line and linebackers right where your gonna run the ball) there is no setting the cpu up.
I rely on the cpu on the heisman level to hone my passing skills, I like the fact that it makes me read the def. and take what it gives me, all while putting serious pressure on me. Its great practice.
That and I like to play human vs. human games on heisman. That totally eliminates or virtually eliminates all the gimmicks people try to use. JMO ;)

The running game from the one back offense on the Heisman default level can be tough, especially if your quarterback isn't fast enough to effectively run the option. I play 8 minute quarters and generally if I'm playing a higher rated team I can squeeze out 85-100 yards rushing using the one back offense without an athletic quarterback. This is why I like having a playbook with Ace Normal or Ace Twins. I can motion the tight ends along the line of scrimmage and they essentially become lead blockers. Basically I look at this as being my "H-back" package.
Now I have to admit I have been cheating a little bit recently on Heisman default by using the I formation at times to run :D. It pains me to admit that, but I just played against Washington with Arkansas and I had 185 yards rushing and 416 yards of total offense and the I formation was a big part of it, lol. Arkansas has a fast quarterback which allowed me to run the option and pick up yards on the scramble

I run a one back spread offense similar to Mad Bomber's, except I probably use fewer TE's and I dont really run the option very much. I recruit pocket passing QB's because I pass most of the time.
With my running game, Im basically looking for 3-5 yards per carry, and if I get 100 yards ive had a pretty good game.
I use Purdue's playbook, so a good portion of my running game will come from the Ace-Y-Twins HB dive. I motion the tight receiver out, to get the CB out of the box.
Audibles also account for alot of my Running game. I run Shotgun Spread alot. I have the Inside Draw set as one of my audibles. When I call a pass out of the SG Spread, I look to see how many the CPU puts in the box. If they come out in Dime, or they motion one of the LB's out from the Nickel, I audible to the Draw. If theyre in man coverage out of the Dime, ill motion the slot receiver on the side Im running to across the formation. Sometimes this allow me to get outside the tackle for a fairly sizable gain.
I also have HB Dive out of the Ace Spread saved as an audible. Same deal as above, if the CPU only has 5 in the box when I call an Ace Spread pass play, ill audible to the Dive, then towards the weak side of the defense, if there is one.
I also use the Ace Bunch HB dive play discussed in the filmroom.

Greetings gentleman.
I am new here and i am quite impressed with the strategy that I have read here so far. Now help me out here, why is it that no one seems to show the I formation any love? Its not as creative a running attack as out of the single back formations but I cant do without it. I can use the 3 wide I form and run the HB Dive to the 2 receiver side. The LB has walked out if they are a 40 defense and I can usually get 4 yards a pop. Against a 30 I can usually slide it back side if the nose is really aggressive for similar results. No one else feeling the classic running game?
Whats up?

The I formation is is getting major love in NCAA 2005. The running game is a thing of beauty. My favorite thing to do is change the direction of the run plays without changing the look of the formation.

So , you might be saying this is more of year of the power running game and not the spread offense. Are the one back runs out of the shotgun and ace effective enough.

Even the running game from the Ace formations on All American default are effective. K you're going to love using the new running plays from the one back shotgun sets. When those linemen are out front blocking it looks very sweet.
