Unhappy I Miss the Good Ol' Days

Am I the only one? It just seems this year is so dull compared to last gen. On last gen, there was ALWAYS something going on. Some of my fondest memories are on last gen are the VG vs Utopia tournament that we had, the Race for the Heisman League that had more drama than a soap opera, etc..

The fights about Awn running HB Direct, the huge fight between DJ and myself, and all the games I played against you guys. I remember HH in particular, because I logged about 30 games with him over the years. Where's BrnOnaMtn? Easily one of the most enjoyable people to play. It just seems like there was so much competition on last gen than there is on current gen now. Partially because people are split by PS3/360, and partially because a lot of people don't even play this game anymore.

Ahh, I digress. Anyone else miss the old days?

The PS2 days were fun and competitive.

The Next Generation Days are very non-competitive. Is it just me, or do people on Next Generation online just suck at NCAA? I have played high rankers and low rankers and none of them are very good.

In the PS2 days my goal was to get 200 wins before I got 100 losses. My goal now is to get 400 wins before I get 100 losses. Problem is, I won't play that many games because when COD5 comes out I am done with this game with exception to the online dynasties.

Honestly though, this game is so easy a caveman can do it.

    NCAA 08 was a turd.

NCAA 09 was a polished turd.

NCAA 10 is a steaming pile of crap.

NCAA 11... You can put a dress on a Pig but in the end she is still a Pig.

People spread out, that's all. No one played NCAA on the regular XBox.

I wasn't around so I don't know, so here's my take. I think you had some dedicated gamers back in the day and it was a small well rounded circle. But as with everything word of mouth brings a lot of new people into the mix. I had Madden 06 and even NCAA07, but didn't know anything about online play. I never played those games because I never had anyone to play. Plus I wasn't a gamer, so anything could pull me away from a game. I think with all the TV stuff and Madden nation that I started watching, it made me want to look deeper into the game.

So, like myself you have an influx of noobs and some don't care about making a game of it, they only care about winning and will try anything including glitching to win. I think the noobs and the different systems like PS3/360 plus life in general have led to a lot of different ppl playing this game than the well rounded group that did before.

    just my.02 cents

It's the same. I've been playing on the 360 the past few months. Sold NCAA '09 for PS3 and I got burned out on MGS and Resistance. I'll be firing my PS3 back up when Resistance 2 is released.

lots of valid points in this thread. the cheez has gotten even sillier on my match games. have the jerks ask me for a friendly quit if I start beating them with sim play.

    You know what's funny?

I play guys sometimes and I just get turned off instantly by the way they play, so I'll ask for a friendly quit before anyone scores. They always refuse, but a few minutes later after I'm up usually by 14 or more, they'll ask for a friendly quit

    Of course now I refuse

    They pause and quit instantly!

I've had guys quit right before half time, it's like they just refuse to concede they rather get the DNF and loss than concede.

Heh. I had a guy quit on me with 0:00 on the clock. He was a Top 1000 guy, so I can see being frustrated getting beaten by a scrub, but if you played the whole game, why ruin your DNF?

I was playing a guy he was a level 27 I can't remember his name, but he played almost the entire game and I was surprised I was actually beating him so easily. He and I talked up until about .03 seconds left he said ohh well I guess you beat me?

I said it was a good game and I was lucky.

He instantly disconnected and the game froze with .03 seconds on the clock. It asked did I want to play against the cpu etc.. but it was frozen, so I couldn't pick anything. Long story short...It gave me the loss and a DNF

It froze everything I had to power off my Xbox and everything.

See my other thread about being up 21-0. Gets aggravating as hell. I do miss the old days. You guys used to , key word is USED to get blown out by you guys.

I can still remember specific games I've played against you guys like the 1st game when me and heavy played where he used his "run playbook" and demolished me. Or the 1st game he and I played on 06 (GA vs FL St). Where is Born?

    You are wrong.

Back in the day there were more glitches and such.

I don't know if dedicated is the word. I just know that the people playing the game now, for the most part, SUCK!!! They have a lack of stick skill. They are one or two play wonders that have ZERO football knowledge. They can't read defenses at ALL. They have NO concept of what the AI is trying to do. I can go on and on.

I don't think people now really care about winning. If they did they would hit the lab to understand the game.

A typical game for me goes like this. Opponent comes out and runs on first down and is stopped. Second down they run a variety plays to the flat which is batted down or intercepted. Third down they throw deep and I pick it off or swat it down.

40% of the games I play are against run and PA passes.
40% of the games I play are against people the A) Try to throw screens and passes to the flats. or B) Scramble and Chuck.
    20% Other

This is why I think I'm pretty close to the truth. Dedicated...people who cared more about playing straight up. Since you said there were more glitches around back then. People who had actual skill and didn't need to glitch. Noobs... people new to the scene want to be a part of it, but are well behind in the skill column, so they take short cuts to try and make up. I felt like that when I came aboard, but I don't believe in cheating I rather never win than win by cheating.

It's tough when you are new to something and trying to compete and you play people that have played for yrs. Some players have no mercy on people that are not as good as they are. I've had guys run up the score on me onside kick every time they score etc... Trying to lab by yourself only gets you so far not everyone has friends into what they're into. I only got good because of higher level guys talking to me explaining stuff about the game. Not all high level guys are willing to help, thus helping to keep stuff the way it is.

In the short time I've been playing I've noticed there are a lot more kids playing. I don't mean teenagers but preteens so cheats and glitches are part of their playing, they see nothing wrong with it. They feel this is equivalent to skill, they know something that you can't stop. Why do you think some even threaten to glitch you, if you don't friendly quit?

I played a guy who was 70-20 when we played about a month and a half ago. His entire game was screen to the wide side... screen left ~ screen right the whole game. When I stopped him and picked off three in a row two for pick six he quit. But i was stopping him and he was going three and out and still never changed screen left ~ screen right.
