Went to a beer festival on Long Island this weekend at the Nasssau Coliseum and found a new favorite called "Tommyknocker". My favorite was the black, tasted smooth and finished with a awesome caramel taste. The brewery is a little out of my reach from my neck of the woods but i'm going to order a few cases from them.

Yup, I met the owner who was working the kegs. The distributor on long island is way out east and do not feel like taking a trip, might as well order a few.

Green Flash: Le Freak, West Coast IPA, Imperial IPA (my fav)
Karl Strauss seems to be a staple at every pub and/or restaurant. The craft brew era seems to be more prominent out there than it is on the East.

Goddamn...drank 6 in 2 hours. Went back to the store and cleaned them out by buying 5 more 6 packs. One of the best beers I've had to date. Can't wait to try their Breakfast Stout.
Just tried the BELGO "Belgian IPA" from New Belgium. Not a fan, not worth your money.
Try to make your way up by Oregon and Washington sometime. You will be impressed.
Lost Coast Brewery - 8 Ball Stout.
This is good. Reminds me of brooklyn choc stout except less coffee, more sweet. Not boozy, very smooth.

Tried the Founder's Dirty Bastard last night and it was great. Dark and copper in the glass and it had a really heavy taste with berries and a hint of caramel. However, there was a really boozy and bitter aftertaste. The drink touts something about scotch being in it, and it definitely felt as if I had just taken a shot of hard alcohol afterwards. Otherwise, it was a great brew...took down the 6 pack rather quickly.
Tonight, I'm trying out 6 different kinds of Sam Adams through their seasonal summer offering. Nothing has really been too memorable except for the summer ale. Heavy taste of orange and goes down smooth, infinitely better than a Blue Moon. Their winter seasonal pack was phenomenal, so I decided to give this one a go...but it just hasn't compared.
Never thought I'd be drinking as much as I have, but some of these brews (Founders) are just f***ing fantastic. Can't wait to try out the Sierra Nevada and Moose Drool that I've been hearing so much about. I think that I definitely favor stouts more than anything else, does anyone have any suggestions?
Try looking for Southern Tier stouts. Choc, Java, Creme Brulee, etc are all quality.

Will do. I swear I've heard of that before, hopefully I can find some this weekend. Gonna be traveling across the state so I'll probably get to sample a good amount of new stuff.
Drinking a Young's Double Chocolate Stout right now...and I'd say it's fairly mediocre. Pours black like crude oil, minor chocolately scent and a heavy chocolate taste at first. The finish tastes like a roasted cocoa bean. Not exactly memorable though, I'm tasting something "metallic" in this and it's very off putting. One of the very first micro's I ever had was Leinenkugel's Creamy Dark and this is more or less on par with that.
Yup, thats Youngs for ya. Should be better as ANYTHING called DOUBLE should be quite more than anything not considered double. It is mediocre for a Choc stout. Any Souther Tier, Rogue, Founders stouts will be quite a bit better.

I was looking for Southern Tier and I just cannot find it anywhere in Missouri. Tried everywhere in the state except for KC.
Right now, I am going with the Sam Adams Imperial Series Double Bock. They really did a great job with this one. REAL heavy taste of berries and a strong boozy finish. On my third right now (Alc. 9.7%) and I'm on Cloud 9.
Before I went into my Adams cache, I tried a Goose Island Matilda. Cost me about $8 for the 24oz. and boy...WHAT A PIECE OF *&$! To me, it tasted like a Bud Light with a slightly strong finish. I tried really hard to find something special with this one, but it just wasn't doing it for me.
ALSO.................
Had 3 bottles of Westervleen (sp?) 14 last week and my dear god was that good. Something like 11-12% alc. content and I could barely taste it because it was so good. Had some fruit accents in it and it went down smooth. Definitely deserving of one of the best beers out there.
Bout two weeks ago, I had a bunch of beers from a friend of mine and I will conclude that....
1. Dragon's Milk from New (Something) is still my favorite brew.
2. Founders is by far the best micro brewery in the land
3. Moose Drool is my new session beer. Absolutely delicious.
