    Best PB in the game???

Finally found a playbook I don't have to "settle" on. Penn State's playbook is just sweet. I think the package subs is what I like most about it. Loving the "WR at HB" formations, plus you can go "wildcat" out of a lot of the shotgun sets too.

Oh and for what it's worth, Ace Bunch is arguably the best formation in the game.

Hey DJ how much luck have you had running out of the Bunch? I agree passing out of it is very nice but my running keeps getting blown up out of it.

I set up the run by passing.....coming out in a lot of 3 and 4 wide sets to get the favorable matchups. There are so many package subs you can do out of Bunch that the defense never knows what is coming.

Best 3 formations to me are: Ace Bunch, I Form Twins, and Shotgun Empty Trey

I ran with PSU for a while, but the PB doesn't have the SG formations I like. I believe they are also missing an ace formation I like.

I guess you do agree with me about Ace Bunch. I told you a long time ago (before you had the game) that Ace Bunch was the best formation on the game. If you like Ace Bunch, try SG Bunch. All I have to say is DAMN!!!! I can basically run 3 plays out SG Bunch and you will never stop me.

Next best formation in the game is SG Trio HB Wk. It screws with every defense in the game.

I am going to have to try out the SG Trio HB Wk later this week when I get time to jump on the 3.

On a side note would anyone like to trade me for a couple of weeks and go to work for me and put in my 65 hours a week that I have been averaging? LOL.

I feel like I have no time to get on. But I do got a ton of vacation coming.

There is too much work with SG Tight. You have to motion a WR and I hate that.

My favorite is the first play on the page which has 2 slants, a flat route on the same side and the TE runs a basic flat pattern. What makes this formation deadly is that you can pkg. a WR in for the TE. If your 4th WR is fast, you will be deadly with pkg.

What I do is pkg. the WR in at TE. I call that first play and put the trio of WR's on the short side of the field. Before I get to the line I hot route Y to a fade and I hot route the outside WR to a hitch. This formation is nice because you can read man or zone before the snap of the ball. If your opponent is in zone you have to make the proper hitch, flat, or fade read. If your opponent is in man the your fast WR pkgd. in at TE will get a nice easy 8 yards and sometimes even break it. If your opponent decides to manually cover the WR@TE then you hot route your HB also and motion him to the flat. When this happens I usually hot route him to a slant.

There are other plays I use as well. I throw a lot to the flats to the slot WR's. You can't stop the flats with a WR unless you A) Manually cover it or B) Run cover 2 zone. I do my best to make the defense adjust. When they do I am good at making the read and throwing the proper route.

After spending a few weeks trying out alternate playbooks, I am entirely convinced that Oregon St.'s PB is by far the best on the game. I still wish it had a few more option plays and a couple more two-back sets (especially since 3 of the 4 SG sets are virtually identical), but the stuff you can do with this PB to confuse defenses is practically limitless.

    Heavy,
Thanks again for introducing me to this gem.

I am running with Purdue right now. I like it as much as I like the Beavers PB. Only difference with Purdue is there isn't as much as a running threat. The Ace formations in the Purdue PB are also limited with plays.

I played with the Penn St. PB last night and I am just not a fan of it. It has some nice stuff, but every PB has some nice stuff.

Also DJ, be careful with the Empty Trey in that PB. When passing from that formation the passing icons for every WR don't come up. It is annoying as hell because you will have the guy wide open and can't throw to him.

I love the Flexbone when using Clemson. You can sub in Davis and Spiller and destroy the D with them.
