Well, sorry, but this "cute" 18 year old will still beat you like a drum EVERY time we play. "No bout adbout it!"

Who won the last and only time thus far, we've played, fullback?

Also, could you please tell the board the name of the offense I beat you with?

Actually, I'll save you the trouble....

I played a very lax game (no BS whatsoever) and pounded him so bad that I won't bother to tell the score...it was that bad...

and I ran a legit POWER SPREAD....

Also, fullback, if I don't know anything about anything....

Then please enlighten me. You must know the answer. Being 42 and all....

Guys, you do realize you're arguing about comments that were made on here back from the 06 game right? Two years ago................let it go. Not worth arguing over something that far back in the past.

Besides, the reason why blackpowderer was saying that back for that game (HB Direct) was because there was a lack of anytype of strong side play run other than speed option, meaning the defense could pretty much overload to the weak side because there aren't any plays to go the opposite direction (hence the *occasional* HB Direct to keep the D honest). Now, with the implementation of jet sweeps and auto motion, we have strong side runs other than the HB Direct that go towards the strong side of the formation.

Yea, someone needs to do a rewrite on some of this. I mean, basic real life concepts will be the same but so much more things have been added to utilize it more game-wise. Auto-motion options, jet sweeps. Hell, subs at the play call screen wasn't possible when this was written. This offense could be ran so much more effectively. One gripe for me is that they didn't add in wr reverses or just reverses in general. They can add statue of liberty, flea flickers, hook and laterals, hb and wr passes, but no reverses. A play that is commonly run in college to catch someone over pursuing or catch them off guard. Pssshhh. Give me a break.

Also, stop the argueing. I mean, I think ZAN is right on the whole situation but still. Especially if fullback is an older guy, should know a little better. that post was old and dj said it perfectly. The lack of a strong side run made it something you'd need to use to keep them honest.

    power spread offenses

You might wanna try Auburn's offense. We run a power spread and have the wildcat. The WC is a great formation to run from

I have been running the FSU's Fast Break for sometime, this year I no flares or swing passes and have gone to more of a POWER SPREAD so some extent.

I don't want to sound like a Homer....but I think the WVU playbook is perfect for the Power Spread:

    Ace-Big Twins
    I-Form-Normal
    I-Form-Y-Trips
    Shotgun-Split
    Shotgun-2-Back Slot
    Shotgun-Y-Trips
    Shotgun-Spread
    Shotgun-5-Wide
    Weak-Normal

Nice mix of SG sets and a some power running with the I Form and the Ace....and the Weak Normal has some good mis-direction plays to mix things up a bit.

And I agree AirRaid....with a speedy QB and some heavy hitters on the Oline....the option is a great way to eat up the clock. I like to use the TE to either shore up the blocking on the play side or use the TE to fake the Defense into shifting to the non-play side. Another facet of the Option that isn't used that much....instead of letting the QB take the rock to the outside and either run it or pitch it....follow the FB in to middle. I will use this option when I face a team with some really fast DE's or OLB's....or if their DT's can blow into the backfield. And let me reiterate another of the AirRaid wisdoms.....don't hit the speed button until your through the line on this option. I have had defenses absolutly stop the pursuit because they thought the FB had the ball and he was already down....then BAM the QB goes for another 5 or 6 yards.

I have found what MadBomber said a while back is also true. IF you can get your short Passing game going....there is NO way a defense can stop a power spread. I will use short slants with the WR or SR...and the TE doing a 5 yard split off the end. If I can get a couple of these going...the QB's OVR goes up and he won't miss many passes. I really spread it out....and try not to utilize my stud WR...Chris Henry....6'5" 43" vertical jump...4.43 40....and soft hands....I WILL Hot Route to him....and then not throw to him....the defense will key on him EVERY time and open the middle whenever I do this. This will also stop the Blitz-happy players that will bring a CB or OLB EVERY play. When they are blitzing...someone is open....and it's usually the TE or the HB or FB coming out of the backfield.

It's just too bad that I suck so bad online....cause these things work for me against the CPU(Maxed out sliders for the CPU and sliders set to 5 clicks on the human side at the AA level)....but against the slowdown of the XBox Live...it doesn't always work. Or you get some hotdog that will play a dime set and audible down to a 4-3 and blitz constantly.
awww...there's NOTHING wrong with being a "homer." it's a demonstration of love and loyalty bruh! i love both the Baltimore Ravens and Virginia Tech Hokies and run their Obooks & Dbooks and i ONLY run them in games. it's more fun to me that way.

now, this is an amazing thread! great input guys especially Air Raid. i've been revisiting NCAA13 recently and i've been wanting to create this style of offense for my Hokies. their offense is actually listed as "multiple" however, they definitely run the pro/power spread offense. they like to spread the field and then run the ball out of their Gun formations to set up the PA's. in their playbook i like to run the following formations:

    I-Form: Twins
    I-Form: Twins Flex
    I-Form: Tight
    I-Form: Tackle Over
    Power I: Tight
    Strong I: Normal
    Gun: Split Slot
    Gun: Normal Wk
    Gun: Y Trips Wk
    Gun: Double Flex
    Gun: Spread
    Gun: Trey Open

i absolutely love the HB Counter's in some of these formations that compliment the QB Wrap or Read Options. i need to mix in the screens and slants more after reading this thread to really enhance this offense.
