Another team you may want to checkout is Texas A&M. In their last three games against Wyoming, Clemson, and K-State they've pretty much gone with this style of offense. I was under the impression they were an I formation run team, but the last few weeks they've been spreading it out and running it as much as anyone.

..Yeah...I think they have realized that thier best chance at winning is putting the ball in McNeal's hands and let him do something with it.....they looked very good against K-State over the weekend.....

...Speaking of K-State....Bomber...did you see the play where the QB would fake the give to the HB and then the HB would come back and become the lead blocker for the QB?? That is one nice play....really works well as a counter from the gun....

Texas A&M has really surprised me too, after that lost to Utah, I looked at there schedule and actually they had only one winable game. Well, look at them now. Dennis has done a great job with those Aggies with what he has got.

More Power for the Power Spread

    Topic: SG Ace Twins

..This formation is quickly becoming a new favorite for me and I can thank Lou Holtz for the inspiration over the weekend......(and Doomsday for getting me to think about number advantages..)

    Play 1: QB Sweep

...Adjustment...Hot Route the play to the right side....

.......If the D is in man coverage (meaning the CBs follow the WRs to the left side) this play can go the distance with a little patients and a fast QB! Snap the ball and DON"T speed burst until all of your blockers pick up a man....follow your pulling gaurd around the end and then turn it up field and burst it into the endozone!!!......it will take sometime to get use to the timing and not laying on the speed burst (you might have to at times if the superhuman DT breaks through the line ) but when it works, it is a nice wrinkle to the running game.....Think of it as an old Single Wing play....(South Carolina ran this type of play twice against Bama on Saturday...)

    Play 2: TE Deep

...Adjustment....Hot route your right-side TE to stay in and block...

.....if the D is in man coverage this play can pick up big yardage in the passing game!!!....snap the ball...allow your TE to pick up any outside rusher and then roll to the right...wait for your #1 WR (the square icon) to come across the field and hit him on the run....I have yet to have the WR drop the ball on me....I LOVE this play!!

    Play 3: Speed Option

...Umm...yeah...you already know I love these plays ....

    Play 4: TE Dig Wheelie

....Adjustment...Hot route your right-side TE to stay in an block if you want...or let him run his route...it's up to you....

...This play has been the most successfull Wheel Route for me lately....I just snap the ball...wait a second and then lob it up to my slot WR on his wheel route and let him go get it!...not perfect all the time...but against the right D it is money!!!

...Just adding to the Power Spread playbook ...

Yep, that's a pretty good formation for me as well. I've been using Southern Mississippi's playbook lately and it has 6 shotgun formations and that Shotgun Ace Twins formation. As for the QB Sweep, another adjustment you can make to that play is motion the back side tight end over to the play side after you call the hot route. I've gotten some big yards that way.

I would like the QB Sweep play better if the play side offensive linemen blocked down. This small detail isn't in any of EA's run blocking schemes. Anytime you pull a back side lineman to the play side, the play side linemen are supposed to block down so that they can cut off any back side pursuit and pin the play side defensive linemen inside.

    USM's Playbook
    Ace Slot
    Ace Y-Trips
    Shotgun Ace
    Shotgun Ace Twins
    Shotgun Normal
    Shotgun Trips
    Shotgun Bunch
    Shotgun 5 Wide
    I Form Normal

..I TOTALLY agree with the blocking down strategy (or lack there of in EA's world) That play would be EXCELLENT if the blocking schemes were correct, but all we can do is try and make what we have work....

...Hmmm..Pulling the backside TE over to the playside...another blocker...I like it!....I will give it a shot tonight ....

    My favorite Formations right now:

    SG Spread
    SG Bunch
    SG Ace Twins
    SG Y-Trips
    Ace Big Twins
    Ace Normal

..but I can't decide on a playbook ...trying Baylor's right now, but the Pro Form Slot seems like a waste as far as trying to run out of it....the search goes on....

That adjustment works fantastic!!....I ran the QB sweep with that udjustment and picked up 15 yards.....then I ran the Speed Option with the same adjustment and picked up 12 yards...and then I ran the HB draw (which almost never worked before..) to the left after making the same adjustment (to get the D thinking I was going that way again ) and took it to the house after breaking one tackle....This formation is working out great!!

I have decided to go with Memphis's Playbook (my custom book takes out the SG Normal and adds in the Ace Normal ):

    I-Formation Normal
    SG Ace Twins
    SG Normal
    SG Y-Trips
    SG Trips
    SG Bunch
    SG Spread
    SG 5-Wide
    Strong-I Twins

...I'm really starting to have GREAT success running the power game from the I-Formation and the Strong-I Formation....the Counters work well and I actaully got the "Lead Toss" play from the I-Formation to work last night as well...I'm starting to feel comfortable running almost every running play from those two formations and that, added to my SG game, has open up some serious options for me to go to....

...In my South Carolina dynasty I'm at 71% rushing and 29% passing...with well over 345 yards rushing a game.....and completing 67% of my passes (I'm really happy with that )...Sorry DJ I whooped up on the Dawgs 45-17 ...LOL!

..QUESTION FOR BOMBER or ANYONE ELSE...does anyone have success with the "Tunnel Screen" from SG Ace Twins? I have success when I roll to the left and then throw back to the HB coming out of the backfield against man defense, but I would like to get the screen to work more....so I was woundering if anyone had any adjustments or reads that makes it work for them.....

That's a play that I usually leave alone. I've gotten it to work maybe once or twice on All-American, but on Heisman default it usually results in a loss. The problem I usually run into is the slot receiver who's supposed to block the outside cornerback often times whiffs on his block. Combine this with the linemen taking too long to get out on the perimeter and you see why this play is too inconsistent in my opinion.

LOL! Yeah, EA should re-name that play "No block Screen" or "Stupid Screen".

..I was afraid you would say that!...I have little to no luck running that screen...it's a real shame!......thanks for the input!....

I tried a power spread game strategy for the first time last night. I used Temple vs Maryland with Texas Techs playbook. i usually only average about 50 yards tops. I was able to get 220. First time I ever went over 200. Im not very good at the options by the hb directs are great.

A play that I've recently started experimenting with is the Shotgun 5-Wide QB Draw. I got the idea from watching Michigan State vs Illinios. The Spartans use lots of empty shotgun sets with two tight ends split out.

Basically once the defense spreads outs I'll glance over the box and determine where the potential weak spots in the defensive front are. Once the ball is snapped I'll take off with the quarterback and head for daylight. With this play I can go anywhere from between the tackles or I could treat it as a sweep and dart outside. I'll sometimes sub my two tight ends into the inside receiver spots to provide extra blocking in case I decide to go in that direction. I'll also play around with motion to try and get a blocking advantage on the perimeter.

I wondered if anyone had a chance to see Coaching the Spread Single Wing Offense video by Jim Ahern?

Take all the great plays of a good power spread team, throw in some misdirection and then imagine it being run with an unbalanced line???...if only we had a real play editor and realistic field spacing... ho-hum

...Ohhh...A play editor....EA are you listening?...

...Funny you should bring that up COG!, I haven't seen the video, but that is the strategy that I have been trying to incorporate....I have broken my Power Spread running attack into 4 "series"...(1) the Option Series...(2) the Power Series...(3) the QB Series (Single Wing) and (4) the Misdirection Series...can't get the unbalanced line in this game, but that would be awful nice to have!...

...Bomber..I too have been using the 5-Wide set a little more lately and have gone to the QB Draw quite a bit (becuase my QB is more of a runner than a passer)...I like to use motion to create a blocking advantage to one side or the other or like you said run the play as a straight draw or sweep...

..BooBoogator...glad to hear that you had some success with this style of offense...once you get the hang of it the various strategies really start to open up!!!...
