VG member Franchise weekly news conferences

"Thank you for coming here today folks. i just wanted to take a moment to clear the air about a few things regarding my team, the VG Lions. I have been very outspoken about wanting to get the ball more often. It is not an attempt to be selfish, but just my passion for the game and wanting to be a competitor. I know I am a talente player and that I can help my team.

With that being said, the 2 games that I was NOT the leading receiver, we won. The one game that I was... we lost. I do not want to be the best WR on a losing team. I saw that in sunday's loss our QB Harris was trying to get me much more involved and that it limited our offense. We have a GREAT wideout on the other side of me in Wild. I dare any team's DB's to be able to match up with us both on a weekly basis.

I would like to pubically apologize to my teammates and our fans for my selfishness and would like to get the offense moving forward for the good of the team. I will now open the podium to questions. My agent, Disciple Rosenhaus is also available for comment."

I am leaning towards the fact you are 5'5" and weigh 135.
Plus you wear a Red's jersey and lavender dress shirts.
Coach please give him his own shower stall. I am tired of him staring at my no no spot.

    NB Press Release

"We've had a couple tough losses. The local and national media have been doing their usual 'what's wrong' questions to everyone in this locker room, including questions whether AD is becoming a disruption to the team.

Let me say this, there is one common goal for this team. That's to win games, one game at a time, as a team. AD understands this and i think the media needs to know that - and understand it as well. When we prepare for a game, WE prepare for a game. When we play a game, WE play the game. When we win a game, WE win the game. When we lose a game, WE lose the game. From the front office to the ball boys, it's always WE.

Now with that said, I feel it's also important for the media - and the fans - to know that this team is dedicated. Dedicated to being a team, dedicated to being something Lion fans can be proud of.... proud to say 'Damn straight I'm a Lions fan!"

That's all and we appreciate the support from every fan out there, continue coming to the games because I guarantee you that at the end of the day, we will not disappoint. Thank you."

Dejay Blader - Tuesday Press Conference Transcript

Dejay Blader: Hey there everyone, first time up here in the docks ... hahaha

Q: This is your first season in the NFL and as a player hailing from England, what are your feelings about being here in the Motor City?

DB: Well you know, I just pray to God and thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity. Very few people get paid for doing what they truly love, and playing pro ball is something I love to do and am truly thankful for being able to do.

Q: The Lions are coming off an 0-16 season. What are your thoughts on coming into this franchise at this time?

DB: The past is the past, and thats the way the team and I want to keep it. We don't think about last season, because we become distracted with the present. I came into this time to help turn them around, and together with the right attitude we'll do that.

Q: The team is 2-1 already this season, but there have been reports of tension around the offence, namely between Bunch and Disciple after the loss last week, what can you say over that?

DB: You guys should know better than anyone, the media are lies ... haha ... On a serious note however, there is no tension in the locker room. It's all media hype and rubbish, honestly. We win as a team and we lose as a team and we're all working hard to eradicate the mistakes we made as a team last week.

Q: With 2 wins under your belt already, what are your personal goals as a rookie MLB?

DB: My goals are the same as the team's goals. And what do the fans, the coaches, the owners and the player's want: Superbowls, period. If anything else comes my way, I'll take that as a bonus. But I won't be happy until we lift the Gold Football.

Q: What do you feel you can do to improve your recent performences, which have the press have been critical of considering your Combine hype?

DB: Personally I've talked to the coaches about my weaknesses and things to improve and during practice I'm trying to get the small adjustment things right. Better footwork and placement for one. But I'm getting a lot of help from the older guys in the locker room, especially the real vets like Nevada [Ballin], but my main man Paris [Lenon] has been helping me out a lot too.

Q: We've heard that apparently you'll be like "an MLB on skates" next week, what do you have to comment on that?

DB: Well after the loss last week I talked to Coach and the Defensive personnel and we felt it was best if we moved me about around the line, as in, around the gaps and trying to bust through, in the process helping the teammates, especially guys like Ballahawk get those sacks. Together we've all worked on some stuff that we hope to improve my play and the defensive pressure play [which can be found in the post below].

DB: Thanks guys for making this an eventful first conference, in the words of a fellow European, "I'll be back".

When things say “Left” or “Right” or “LOLB”, it means the left/right of a defensive player, who would be facing the QB directly. This means the LOLB is to the right of the screen, and so on.

    • 3-4 Normal:

    o Cover 1 Robber:
     Blitz LOLB
     Crash DL Left
     SS in M2M with A receiver
     Press Coverage

    o Cover 4
     Blitz LILB
 SS in Hook Zone (yellow zone)
 CB #1 in Deep Zone (dark blue zone)
     Spread LBs
 Crash and Shift DL Left

    o Double QB Spy
     Blitz RILB
     Pinch LBs
     Crash DL Left
     Press Coverage

    o Strong Blitz
     Shift LBs left
     RE Spy
     Press Coverage

    o Weak Storm Roll
     Blitz ROLB
 CB#1 in Flat Zone (light blue zone)
     Crash DL Right
     LILB in Deep zone
    • If the LILB is slower, for instance Bruschi is slower than Mayo for instance, then I would recommend flipping the MLB coverage (i.e. changing the PACKAGE) by pressing the left bumper 3 times to get to a flipped MLB Coverage.
     Press Coverage

    o Wide Blitz
     Blitz LOLB
 SS in M2M with RB
 CB#1 in Deep Zone (IMPORTANT!)
     Press Coverage

    • 3-4 Over

    o Trio Sky Zone
     Crash DL Left
     RE Contain

    • 3-4 Stack

    o Hog Buck 3
     LILB in Hook Zone
     LOLB Contain
     Crash DL Right

    o SS Snake 3 Stay
     Blitz LOLB
 SS in M2M with RB
     Crash DL Right

    o Strong Snake 3
     Shift DL Left
     Shift LBs Right
     Press Coverage

    o Weak Flat 3
     Crash DL In
     LOLB Spy

    • 3-4 Under

    o Double Man
 All LBs in Zone (Press RB then LS UP)
     Press Coverage
    • Only use against 2 WR sets

    o Cover 2 Sink
     Blitz ROLB
 SS in Sideline Zone (purple zone)
     CB#1 in Deep Zone
     Press Coverage

    o MLB Blitz
     Blitz LOLB
     SS in Flat Zone
     LILB in Hook Zone
     Show Blitz

    • Nickel 2-4-5

    o Buck Slant 3
     Blitz ROLB
     Nickel Spy
     LOLB in Flat Zone

    o Cover 2 QB Spy
     Blitz LOLB and ROLB
     Shift LBs Left
     Crash DL Right

    o Double QB Spy
 Blitz LOLB, ROLB and RILB
     LILB in Hook Zone
     CB#1 in Flat Zone
     CB#2 in Sideline Zone
 Safety Coverage LEFT (Press Y then RS Left)

    o Inside Blitz 3
     Blitz ROLB
 RDT (Right Defensive Tackle) in Hook Zone
     Show Blitz

    o Under Strong
     Blitz ROLB and LOLB
     Crash DL In

    • Dime

    o Cover 2 Buc
     CB#1 and CB#2 in Flat Zone

    o Fox Fire Zone
     Blitz SS and LB
     CB#1 in Flat Zone
     Dime in Deep Zone

o Zone Blitz (Good without modification)

    o SS Zone Blitz
     Blitz SS
 LE in M2M with RB
     Show Blitz
 Spread Safety Coverage (Press Y then RS Up)
    • This play is best done with the LB Pass Rush package (whereby the DEs are replaced with OLBs)

    • Dollar

    o Max Sting 3
 Regroup Box (i.e. freeze D or reset play)
     FS in Sideline Zone
     LB#1 (LILB) in M2M with RB

    o SS Zone Blitz
     Nickel in Flat Zone
     LB#2 (RILB) Contain
     Show Blitz

    o Str Eagle Slant 3
     Regroup Box
     Blitz LB#2
     FS in Flat Zone
     Show Blitz

    o WK Eagle Slant 3
     RE Contain
     Shift LBs Left
     Crash DL Right

    o Cover 4
     Blitz Dime
     SS in Flat Zone
     CB#1 in Deep Zone
 Crash and Shift DL Right

MP - these were the plays from my original Play of the Day, all of them. They're 3-4 specific, taken from the NE 3-4 PB.

Hope that helps with defence in general.

    Blader.

Drew Rosenhaus's Meeting with the Coach

Coach, we have a problem. My client, Jordan Clark, has limitless potential, but yet you put him in shackles. A quarterback gets more rushing attempts? Why? Example, week two. Your team won by 21 points, but yet Jordan only had one carry? When you are up by that much you run the ball. Something better change or things will not be pretty in this lockerroom. At all.

VGLions QB Harris talks to Steven A. Smith

Smith: Tell us about your thoughts on the season so far.
Harris: It's still early. Those back to back losses were tough, but I think they'll show the true character of this team, ya dig!

Smith: So far this season you lead the league in Passing yards and TD's and second in passer rating.
    Harris: True indeed.

Smith: You're also 2nd in the league with 9 INT's
    Harris: Yeah so....

    Smith: This doesn't bother you?
Harris: Nah, I'm from Da Uuuuuuuuu. We gotta shake the negativity off baby. Smitty I promise you, come playoffs
Smith: PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? DID YOU SAY PLAYOFFS?
Harris: Sure did when we get to the playoffs, I promise you I won't make those mistakes.

Smith: How can you guarantee that? Have you been practicing?
Harris: PRACTICE? We talkin about PRACTICE? Not a game, but PRACTICE. C'mon dawg. Like I said come crunch time, I'm not making those mistakes.

Dejay Blader Midweek (Week 7) Press Conference Transcript

Q: We're now approaching the halfway point in the season and the VGLions are .500. What do you have to say about this?

DB: It's not good enough. Simple as. VG is a franchise - a team that is on the up. We are all working hard to give our fans something to cheer about - playoffs - a shot at a Superbowl this city deserves. No one on this team likes to lose, or see an L on our record sheet. Luckily, we still have time to turn this around, and we're not treating it like a sinking ship. But we're better than this, we know it, the coaches know it, and the fans know it. We'll do better.

Q: So is that a guarantee of a win next game?

DB: No it's not a guarantee that we'll win next game - it's a guarantee that come the end of the season Lions fans will look back and be happy with the season we've had. It's a guarantee that as a team we will continue to improve and work harder than before.

Q: A few weeks ago you said you talked to the coaches about implementing certain defensive plays to get yourself and Paris more into the game. But it seems like over the past few weeks your efficiency has dropped, what's the problem?

DB: Well the coaches aren't the problem - I am. I need to improve on my personal skills, and ensure to implement them come gametime. It's no good practising on Sunday, when you had the time Monday to Saturday. I just need to do better in the areas that we've together identified as my weak spots.

Q: You're 2-1 inside the division, how important do you feel is that later on in the season?

DB: Very important no doubt. You don't know how many times divisional records have saved teams from not making the playoffs - but it's not just that. To have a 2-1 record is a statement of intent to all of our divisional rivals. The message? The Lions are back. Be warned.

Q: Fighting words, but do you really believe your defence can take you through to the playoffs? It seems as though your offence is bailing you out an awful lot these weeks.

DB: I don't know if you could say that. We're a team and if one part is struggling we all help the other out. Earlier on in the season we were solid as a unit, and we helped out our buddies on offence. See - it's a team game and we're all Lions, not just offensive or defensive or special teams. As a defence we do need to step it up and give our O some breaks. That loss against the Bears was on us, and it shouldn't have happened. But we have resolve and we'll ensure that doesn't happen again.

Q: You've got the Washington Redskins next, what are your thoughts on them?

DB: They're a solid team, good defence, QB who's coming into his own. We're not gonna take them lightly, but we're not gonna lay off them either if you get my drift... hehehe... We're going to do our homework, watch the tapes and hopefully Sunday night Detroit will be back on track with a W. It's a home game, so we expect the fans to be buzzing and the stadium rocking. We expect that Detroit, so don't dissapoint... hahaha!

Q: Final question, what is being said in the locker room about the possible retirement of Nevada Ballin?

DB: He's retiring? That's the first I've heard of it... Nevada's a great guy who despite is age plays tough ball. Whenever he decides to hang up the studs (as we call them back in England) it will be a sad day, but let's hope that's no time soon.

Disclaimer: There was a caption to go with this interview but we were forced to take it down due to the graphic nature.

DEFENSE: CB DR. MORBID, VG LIONS

In a 32-22 win over Minnesota, Morbid was a key factor as the Lions pushed their record to 3-2. The 4 year Flag Football veteran recorded 6 tackles, made his first NFL interception, and recovered 2 fumbles. In his previous 4 games he dropped at least 4 picks. We caught up with the Doctor for a quick interview to discuss his breakout game.

Susie Slamabout: Hi. How are you doing today Mr. Morbid.
Dr. Morbid: Please call me the Doctor.

Susie Slamabout: Sure thing. Now let's get down to business.
    Dr. Morbid: Let's

Susie Slamabout: Oh my! Congratulations on the Award. How did you make such a dramatic turn around, considering you dropped so many potential interceptions.
Dr. Morbid: Dont be startled, and thanks by the way. I'm really not interested in individual awards, I'll take it though. Well to answer your question; its like I told Coach........."get rid of the distraction". I'm easily distracted, I don't even know what I'm thinking about half the time. I see something on the sideline and forget all about the ball. Other times, I'm thinking about taking the pick to the house before I catch it. Believe me I'll get a few TD's before its over.

    Susie Slamabout: Hmm interesting.
Dr. Morbid: Yeah I get that sometimes.

Susie Slamabout: I see, umm but back to the questions. You guys have already won more games than you did last season. How do you feel about that?
Dr. Morbid: No need to rush..........but yeah I really don't feel anything about that. This is a totally diffrent team from that weak group from last season. We have a lot of go getters on this squad. Some U. Alumini that don't mind getting in you're isth if you F up.

Susie Slamabout: Okay Im about to wrap this thing up. Any last words for those reading.
Dr. Morbid: Fa sho wrap it up but be gentle, I have to keep myself protected. Once we all get used to playing with each other its going to be some isht. All you media clowns need to get out of our locker room. All my team players keep doing what you do. To you cats putting our team issues in the papers STFU.

Hey yo Susie keep doing what you doing becuase I like the way you do the "Double Bubble". To the Mothership we go.....Baby Bubba.
