My baby is growing up and I just don't know how to handle it. Do I stay firm or let up alittle? lol

I see you haven't gotten any responses yet. lol
I do not have any daughters. I have 2 step sons 13 and 11 and a newborn son 3 months.
I think the answer to your question is going to be personal. Whether to ease up or tighten the screw would be very situational. The things that are REALLY important I wouldn't ease up on.
What I've found with my step-sons is to make sure more than anything that you're fair and don't change the rules in the middle of the game. That's about all I can offer.

My daughter will be 20 this year man. I wish i could tell you what the proper balance was but each child is different. At some point you're going to have to let up a little and let her make her own mistakes in life so she learns that all those things she heard from mom and dad weren't just "words". But believe this, she has listened more than you may give her credit for at times.
Just be there for her when things don't go the way she thought they would (or the way you wanted them to). She's not always going to make the right the decisions - just like we didn't while growing up and exploring the world - just be there for her no matter what![]()
A healthy dose of "I told you so" goes a long way, amirite?
Haha. Just kidding.

when i die think i wanna go to hell, cause i doubt the man upstairs let me blaze a l
She is only 13, but everything seems to be happening over night lol.
First she sprouted boobs
Then she started her womanly thing
Now she is wearing make up
She is going boy crazy to early too
Maybe I am to old fashion, but I make her take the make up off. She doesn't need to wear that much make up at 13! Her mom just looks at me like I am crazy. Don't wanna be to hard on her and push her away. She has always been a daddy's girl, and she always tells me everything. I just hate seeing her grow up I guess. Boys are so much easier to let go lol.

Take her to get birth control ... At that age I think the best thing you can do is educate them , and make sure they protect themselves. Seriously I know it's a disgusting thought to you ... but it can't be any more disgusting then hearing your kid is pregnant , or drive her to get her first abortion ( dunno your feelings on the topic of abortion just sayin') I dont have kids, but I have a neice, she was always such a bright kid ! So smart, good looking , we all thought she had her head on straight and was responsible... fast forward to her first abortion at 16... Her mother (my stepsister) always thinking preaching the bible and no sex before marriage was going to be enough. I can rationalize that the abortion was the best thing for my neice, but it deeply saddens me that she had to go through that. I am pro abortion, but I still think it is a horrible horrible thing for a woman to have to go through. I guess you have to justify to yourself if taking her to get birth control is better then pretending a pregnancy is not going to happen to your little girl , or hoping that she will NEVER have sex.
The make-up thing, well you could always pull a fast one , plan to all go out for dinner and then tell your daughter you will wear the same make-up she does so she can see how great it looks on people ... Oh, then post a pic of it ! LOL
I got a better idea. Show them pics of what un safe sex could end up being. Show pics of girls being pregnant. Also show plenty of STD pics of girls and boys to make them sick to their stomach!!!! It has worked so far for a few peeps I know. However sex will happen. hormones gets all of us including politicians hehehehehehe.

Yeah it's a much better idea to scare the F out of your kid, then explain things to them in a normal way... Will it work the same way that documentary "Scared Straight" works ? Showing prisons ? Making you not want to do criminal acts ? At the time that came out I was in high school and it didn't stop any of us ... Or how about when they showed us black lungs in pans from the body of a dead smoker ? They just made me want to smoke more... I think if you treat your kid like they are a baby and you are going to put it into their head that sex is the boogy man and they should fear it they are just going to do it more... I just think educating and letting them make their own mind up is the best you can do... Ultimately the choice will be theirs, and if my choice were to give my child protection or scary pictures I would go for protection...
Just came across this thread.
I used to work in public health for 4 and a half years. I went to to schools to teach HIV/AIDS prevention. I have shown the slides. They work for about 5 minutes. Students still wanted to know where they could get condoms.
From that standpoint I say that comprehensive sex education is necessary. As far as choices that teen's make, that's individual.
I think we need some female madden ballers to get their feeling on stuff like this.

Dam, you f'ers are old! J/K...I just said goodbye to my 20's a few months ago and hello to dam near teens - my daughter is 11. All I can say is have a good line of communication and trust. Make sure to stay involved, always ask her how was school, how was this, that, etc. Just be there, try your best to teach her right from wrong, tell her each day she is beautiful and doesnt need make up. Try your best to teacher her NOT to be a follower, and appreciate things. Good luck Bro!

WHO DAT NATION! COOL BREES 4 MVP!
although my daughters are only 3 n 7, i seem to get more anxious the older they get...Society seems to get worse morally as we get older, and if teenage girls were as bad as they were in our day, if we let our imaginations fly, we picture even more horrible situations for them in the future...(cuz they never get better, right?
