No Youtube at work, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's Kerry Wood's 20 K game?

While Wood hurled a gem, he really really REALLY benefitted from a huge strikezone that day. Kinda knocks that one down my list of all-time best performances for that reason alone.

The zone does seem fairly large (first time I've seen this game in it's entirety since it happened) but Wood had movement on everything

Who was calling the game? Eric Gregg? Or was that after his passing?

N/M... It was Jerry Meals behind home that day.

I don't know - pitchers that have a lot a movement on their pitches can deceive what you're seeing @ home. It's not where the ball ends up in the glove its where it is when its crossing the plate.

A few of those breaking balls to Bagwell absolutely jumped outside as if someone had a string on them.

Just to give an idea of his stuff,

The very 1st pitch to Biggio was a fastball that the catcher set up outside for. The ball starts outside but ends up near Biggio's earhole.
lol the catcher couldn't catch it, knocked the umps mask off,

Throw in the fact that he threw upper 90's and it's probably pretty tough to call a game w/Wood then.

And after that he proceeded to get hurt 50 times and is now a closer who chokes games away.

    What a fall from grace.

Hey that hurts . I wish the Cubs would've kept him as a closer. He was doing really good. Now we have Walkmol, Gregg the Choker in the back of our pen

Roger did yes. Randy Johnson did it too but in 10 innings.

Johnson only needed 9 innings to get 20 K's that game... it went extra innings, but Johnson still K'ed 20 in 9.

Yeah but isn't it still asterisked because he pitched the 10th? I recall him K'ing 20 in the 9 but ended up pitching the 10th. And how crazy is that, Johnson has K'ed 20 and thrown a perfect game.

IIRC, it's not asterisked. MLB flip flopped for a bit, then decided against it. But I might be wrong. Pretty sure Johnson came out after nine.

Edit: Yep, Johnson didn't pitch in the 10th.

Nice. I remember MLB flipflopping which is why I thought Johnson had entered the 10th.
