Hey Mich, just wondering if there is going to be a offensive thread this year as years in the past.

    Thanks

Right now, I don't plans to do it. Offense is much easier this year and alot of the stuff I posted for last year still work this year. If there ends up being a need for it, I'll probably do it. But right now, people can just use the stuff I did for M10.

What playbook do you like so far this year? DAL seems pretty good and similar to pass balanced last year. I really wish they didn't strip pass balanced as much as they did .

I've also noticed NYJ and STL to have some good plays also. If you dont mind sharing, I wouldn't mind your input on what are some good playbooks you've been using.

    Thanks

I went through all of them in PM to see how bad they were gutted. They really nerfed the NO Playbook worse than PB.

I absolutely fell in love with the NYJ Offensive PB with the 9ers personnel.Especially with Crabs in the Slot on the 3W package.

It doesn't have the SB 4 spread formation, but the plays with TE and 2 WR right out of shotty and SB makes up for it. I was able to come up with some nice audibles from my base formations.

It also has some very good 2 back sets including strong close. The Gun Split Jet has some very nice plays, ones I prefer over the PB equivelant from last year..... especially with Crabs in the slot and VD coming out of the backfield....can't wait to put Westy in some of the different packages with Frank either.

Cowboys PB is OK, not much different from Balanced, but I refuse to use the Cowboys PB just as a matter of principle

I figured, I would go with a change of pace here. Instead of doing some more writeups, I figured I would help people work out their personnel. As someone who uses the 49ers, I know what it is like to play with a below average team. So I figured I would help out by giving advice as to who to use and how to use them.

    QB:

QB's are pretty important this year. Having the right QB can dictate how much you can do on offense and how much you should gamble.

    Release:

Not really something you can look up in the depth chart. You really just have to go into practice mode and check it out. Some simply QB's have a much faster release than others. This helps you avoid sacks and allows you to make slower reads.

    THP:

Throwing power is important mainly because it gives the defenders less time to make a play for the ball. It really allows you to squeeze the ball into smaller spaces. Unlike previous Maddens, THP is not as important in terms of being able to throw deep bombs. What this really helps with is throwing to a crossing pattern against man to man coverage. I find that you get alot more YAC when you have a higher THP.

    THA:

Completely meaningless. I honestly think this is just still there to manipulate the OVR rating. Like OL's, PBK and RBK attributes this year, I can almost promise that THA will be removed next year.

    Accuracy Ratings

This is where things can get tricky. This will pretty much dictate how often you will get overthrown balls. Personally, I would even go as far as using the Subs feature to swap QB's depending on the situation. If you think you are gonna throw deep, then you want someone with the better deep accuracy (barring a huge difference in some of the other attributes).

    OL:

Unless you use one of the power teams, there is a good chance you'll have at least one spot on the OL played by someone not so great. And even some of the nice lines in the games have awful players that have a high OVR. I've spent a ton of time since the new attributes came in trying to figure out what the difference is. And this year, there is an even bugger difference in what the attributes do for you.

    RBS:

This is the attribute that determines how much of a push your lineman will get. If this number is low, be prepared to get your guy pushed into the backfield when you run.

    RBF:

This attribute determines running lanes. Basically, for every run, you are supposed to go through a specific gap and your line is supposed to create a running lane. But if this number is low, your lineman will block him towards the wrong direction and you won't have nice lane to run through.

    PBS:

This determines how well your guy can hold his ground when pass protecting. A low number will lead to him being pushed back and having your pocket collapse.

    PBF:

This determines how easily guys will get around your lineman by a finesse move.

    Setting up the line:

I like to have a pass protecting line and not a run blocking line. At the tackles, I want good PBF. Otherwise, edge rushers will be getting to you in no time. At the guards and center, I like to have good PBS. This way, I actually have a pocket to step into. Now, if you roll out alot, then this isn't as important.

When I am running the ball, I like RBF across the board unless I only run to get a crucial two yards or so. The reason for this is that if I don't get a push, I at least want lanes to run through. A push at the line is not really much good if the defender will just disengage and tackle you.
mich great write up again, but where did you get the info 4 these personal ratings? i have been looking to find them and how they work at each position, any link or page you could share?

    Thanks

I have done a ton of testing on these things over the last few years.
