Hah, that thing was so lame. Its in the PC game as well but at least in the PC game you can usually (not always) tackle the ball carrier even though he is currently engaged with the other guy.

On the PS2 you basically sat there and watched, and your other defenders would always get out of the way, it was like a school yard fight.

Yea, that was completely stolen from Tecmo Bowl. But in Tecmo Bowl (circa 1990) developers somehow had the thought that if any other defenders got involved it would aid in tackling the ball carrier. Go figure.

I actually REALLY like this feature. Whoever jumps on the ball first gets the meter on their side to start. I've won about 90% of mine so i'm not complaining.

First... Just because you press the buttons faster doesn't mean you're going to win the fight. It's based on the strengths of the players in the fight. If your punter is fighting a defensive end, you're NOT GONNA WIN. Of course, most of us are too busy trying to see which button is pressed to see WHO is in the pile.

Second, nobody complains about this feature when they WIN the fight. Go ahead. Look around. It's only the worst feature ever when people LOSE the fight.

Lastly, Fighting for fumbles is core to football. It happens every time the ball is under a pile up. Much like gang tackling, this feature isn't a silly gimmick (like QB Vision) that puts something unrealistic in the game just for the sake of calling it innovation. People actually do fight for fumbles.

Might be true, but I've only ever one or two of them. I'm sure I wouldn't mind it if I was great at pushing buttons quickly. But I'm not.
