Stopping a HB in the flats from the Spread or SG formation

Played a level 19 last night and was winning until a B.S fumble/holding penalty on a kick off that the game would not let me challenge because of the penalty, but thats a a whole different story. I held my own fairly well moved the ball and scored at will, however the one thing I could not stop was his HB in the flats outta of the SG formation. Logically one would think cover 2 but when I called it he read it and just went down the field. Any other d's I could use or any way to desguise the cover 2. I have a friend who I play wh runs the same scheme and I cannot seem to stop him either. I'm using the Chargers and NYJ D play book. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Cover 2 works best for stopping passes to the flats but it is vulnerable in other areas. If he is making the right reads and burning cover 2, then I suggest calling another play (cover 3, or a blitz) and manually covering the HB yourself

You can try putting man coverage on the HB. In PS3, choose your defender, hit X, and then choose the HB and then move the stick left.

I use the Jets defense, "cover 3 flats" from the nickel 1-5-5 when my buddy throws to the flats to his TE or HB. One side is covered by the CPU defender. I control the OLB and hang out to the other side to watch the TE and HB, it works pretty well.

It's more like a chess match w/ me and my buddy. Once I stop that play he works on something else so it keeps you guessing, which is cool to me, makes it more like real football.

I see a regular cover 3 in the jets pb in that formation but nothing called cover 3 flats.

I would think this play would still be pretty weak against the flats since its the LB that are running out to the flats. Usually a quick TE or HB will get out there faster than the defender. If you are user-ing one side and that is the side they go to, then that would work but I would think the other side would be vulnerable. I haven't tried it though so I can't say for sure.

Edit: I just looked and I bet you are talking about the cover 3 flat play from nickel 3-3-5 in the Jets PB. That would make sense. Only 1 flat is covered by a CB by default and then if you manually cover the other, that would probably work. I'll give it a shot because I have trouble with this also
