4-3 vs 3-4 against the run

I want to improve my defense against the run. Right now I use a 3-4 defense (chargers playbook). Would a 4-3 be more effective versus the run? I get lots of picks and heat against the pass with the 3-4 but my run defense is shabby. Is there a hybrid book that has both? Is it worth switching books over completely? Thanks

multie has some nice 3-4 as well as some nice 4-3 and 46. I would check that out. I personally just use the 3-4 and to stop the runs I use a gap heat with a contain on the outside to make sure that they do not try to hit the outside. 3-4stack is also like a 4-3, and you can get some nice run D. The jets playbook (what I use) also has the 46 that I like to use for runs also.

I am doing exactly that! I'm using 3-4 stack, overloading with a cover 3 or using a run blitz, and putting the end on contain, and my run-d is still swiss cheese half the time. I control a LB or a safety and pursue. I know that 46 really stacks the box. But I'm worried about leaving the corners on their own. Hmmm. Thanks for the help. Maybe my execution is the problem?!? Any other thoughts? Thanks.

what team are you using and who are you facing? This is the starting point of any defesive scheme. Then what are the tendecies of the individual on the sticks. Sometimes you may just have a bad match up and have to play "sell out D" where you just force your opponent from doing their normal stuff. I know we all try to be flexible on d but when you see a certain look and you "know" whats coming say hb off tackle load up on it crash shift bring up a safety and make them do something else. When they audible or adjust go back to being flexible. Some players do whatever no matter what so if they force the issue then you win if they do something else now they are out their comfort zone. You would be suprised how often people panic when the pet plays get stopped just 1 or 2 times. Lastly some madden players are just beastly and they "read between the lines" so no matter what you do they can adjust these people are just good learn from them its a copy cat leauge

If you use the chargers that should not be a problem. In all the game I play I rarley even see someone trying to throw the ball 20+ yrds down the field. I love to play 46 with the chargers because they are some good corners and you can leave them on an island most of the time.

I use the cardinals in my league. I am number one in picks and top 5 in sacks but I want to be able to also consistently stop the run. If switching playbooks to a hybrid book might help I'll do it. Do u guys find a 4-3 or 46 more effective versus the run? If so i would like some recommendations of hybrid books that have a good mix. Thanks.
