Cool Stepping up the Users with the safety

Anyone out there use their safety the whole game. I'm doing some experiments with my safety by usering him in my different defensive schemes. I used him when playing this guy who ran the wildcat and I had really good sucess in stopping him. I would switch with my MLB and FS but for the most part I used my FS Sanders for the pats! Any good tips or feedback let me know.

I have used the safety since like 04. I always look to the tight end first or the flats in this years game since they are hard to stop. You just have to make sure that you do not bite on the playaction. If I can give any tip at all I would say that you need to learn some of the route combos that way you dont go off on one guy and leave another wide open in the middle of the field.

I mostly play with a safety an LB on certain plays. The pa is what gets me more than anything. When i actually read pass i can cover it well but if i read run im hittin the LOS hard lol.I guess its my own fault.I use a lot of plays with a single deep safety an if u mess up with him ur screwed.
I also have a tendency to abandon my deep coverage an jump shorter routes underneath me.When it works its usually a big hit or pick but im way out of position if i guess wrong.

What you have to remember is that you are a SAFETY. The name explains itself. You are the last line of defense so if you are in deep cover that is the first and primary area you have to cover. If no one goes deep then I tend to hit the spots that I know usually are open. IE the zone that a quick hook route hits.

One thing that works for me is.... i DO NOT use the Saftey in Cover 2 unless its in the redzone... i have a linebacker mind i guess... i like 2 chase the flats and cut off slants so i tend to give up TD's when i use cover 2 because i will get burnt on a double route

If you dont want any responsibility then you can call cover 3 and user the SS this is what i do for run heavy teams... then you can cheat up and still get back 2 your zone fast.... if you can stop your OPP from using the slants because he is afraid of your Stick Skills then show blitz and blitz the SS off the edge... be careful not to overuse because he will hit you with a 10 yard slant for a TD if you get caught blitzing
