    Question about using the Bears

Unfortunately I'm a Bears fan and am compelled to use them no matter how much they suck. I'm really having problems stopping people. Lower ranked people I can stop but it seems no matter what defense I use I can't stop the pass for anything against good players. Anybody use the Bears and know some good ways to make them a little more competent? Thanks in advance.

I don't use the bears but I respect you for sticking with the team that you personally love rather than just picking the one of the teams in the game to use.

I can help you with your defense. Are you on PS3? I can lab with you and show you how to stop some common offensive plays that people like to run.

Not sure what defense you are using but for starters, you should be using either the 4-3 or 46 playbook. I prefer the 46 but I think the bears are better suited for the 4-3 - which has some outstanding defensive plays - especially outta the 4-3 under. Great formation to generate heat with - which is critical in stopping the pass and forcing turnovers.

What system do you play on? Can you be more specific with what types of things you are having trouble stopping? I'd like to help you get better.

Cool, thanks a lot for your reply. I'm on Xbox not ps3 but I appreciate the offer.

I just got 10 a couple a days ago, was playing 09 and doing well but I'm doing pretty bad now. I was using 4-3 but have switched to the 46 today and have been practicing in nonranked games.

With the 4-3 I was using De contain a lot to stop the wildcat and outside runs(trying to stop the endless Johnson and Peterson players). Inside runs I'm just ok at and it pisses me off when I play against guy who consistently stops me at the line. For pass D I was using the Nickel Velcro(which is not nearly as effective as last year) Cover 3 press, Cover 2 and a play I forget the name but 2 nickelbacks are lined up by the DEs and blitz. This last one worked sometimes, the rest of the nickel plays it seems everyone is still open.

I'm using a couple of dime blitzes, the Fox Fire Zone and the strong roll 3 which have been working REALLY well, but if I don't get to the qb, there are holes. Today it' been really successful for me and I'm getting a lot of sacks or INTs off of them

With the 46 it's been ok. I've been trying blitz packages I found to set up before the snap and it doesn't seem to be working as well as it's said to. The pressure just really isnt coming for me out of the 46 and guy are open. So what I really need is good plays out of the 46 to stop the pass.

The best way in the 46 to stop the pass is to blitz. I know in 46 bear if you flip the play and it lb down on left stck, rb up on the right it gives a good pass rush set up, the outside guy should stand up. The best 46 bear play I know is:

    Outside Blitz
    Flip at play call screen
    LB down on left stick
    RB up on right stick
    Y left on left sick
Y down on left stick, control whoever you want, either the farthest outside rusher, or DT, Tommie Harris should get through quickly. I often put the most inside down linemen, which should be a DE, usually lined up over the C in this play in contain, which will make the QB run ino him

Put hester as your 3rd wide out. Have him play slot.
    Knox at 2
    Aromashadu at 1

Bears are a sick team. We cause match up nightmares.
Olsen can play in the slot, out wide, in the backfield at h-back as well as clark.
Forte can run routes against linebackers. Use the bears by forcing mismatch problems.

Substitute olsen into the slot when you select a trips formation. This will show your opponent that you are coming out with 2 wide outs, 2 tight ends and a running back. Forcing them to bring in there base defense of 3-4 or 4-3 only to see that you are in a 3 wide set with olsen in the slot. Now olsen is matched up with a slow linebacker in space.

    Do creative things.

Substitute Olsen at the x wide receiver (The receiver out wide to the left) in a 3 wide out package which would leave hester in at the slot and aromashadu out wide on the other side. Once again, it will show 2 wide out, 2 tight ends, 1 back to your opponent. They will come out In a 4-3 defense only to have there Corner matched up OUT WIDE against olsen and a slow linebacker matched up with Hester in the slot. I can go on and on. I think our team has the potential to cause the MOST matchup nightmares.

Knox 94 speed or somethin. Hester 98 speed. No team has a faster wide receiver Duo.

I can go on and on.

    Not true.

    Philadelphia -

    Jackson has 99 speed.
Maclin has 97 speed (I think).

    Your probably right.
But our 3rd receiver -Aromashadu has like 94 speed.....( I believe)

If you come out in 3 wide, you have more speed with the bears.

Once again, I'm not sure because I don't have the game yet....
    Philadelphia slipped ma mind though.
    Nice call:-)

    Good advice.
    Two questions: in Madden 11...
What is your depth chart for your secondary?
Do you make any adjustments to the offensive line?

    Don't have it yet, but....

I'd put Tillman at the left corner
    Bowman at right Corner

Daniel manning at free safety-for speed. Excellent speed at the free safety position. I believe he is the fastest free safety in the game
Chris harris at strong safety- Excellent run defender. Excellent in the box.

Offensive line- I don't have the game to help you out here bro.
    What playbook do you use....

I'm using minnesota. They have few trick plays that are great for Hester in the slot. (reverses and fake reverse play action)

I have been searching to FS. I put in Bullocks, Wright, Manning at FS. None of them can effectively tackle. I like D. Mannings speed. I use him at CB3 and I will do a DB blitz with him occasionally, but I will move him back to FS if it give me a better chance to win.

Who is your CB3 and CB4?

    Oh sidenote:

    Hester speed 98
    Knox speed 97
Olson is a beast. He can catch everything.

    This is the bears problem.
    Depth at corner.
In nickel situations, I'd package Daniel Manning at nickel back and put Wright at free safety....or you may consider putting the 3rd best corner there and leaving manning at safety.

    As far as our receivers...
Man thats a lot of speed.
Too bad E.a didn't put the real MIKE martz offense into the game.
Minnesota Book is a west coast book. There offensive book is creative

Olsen is sick dude. Throw him around.
Package him into the slot at times.
Sub him at the Z, then the X at times.
Try a game where he is playing fullback the entire game and motion him out from weak I and strong I formations to where he is on the line of scrimmage to run routes.

yeah, D Jackson and Maclin are better receivers(right now).
In fact, Philly is a better team than the Bears(right now).

But, this is BEARS Koolaid Thread. We are drinking the Orange and Navy Blue in our Posts. If Martz offense takes off in Chi-town this year, Hester and Knox will get bumps and will be equal with D Jackson and Maclin.
