1-5-5 rush defense! Wiggle or something? HELP

Ok. I was playing a few people that did this. Pinch and spread the linebackers back and forth so they don't set. Against runs on handoffs they would get in the backfield. You must user the safety to do this. What beats this defense? Will RB fades work?

this is a cheezy *** defense, for real. it screws with the offensive lines blocking assignments, and they dont know who to block. You can try quick passes to flats, slants etc.

its just another flavor of the month defense... nobody can come up with there own offense and defense it seems

I agree!! The offensive lineman blocking assignments get all screwed up. I just would like to have a counter. I figuered the flats would be the best option. Thanks bro.

It just depends what d their running behind the blitz.Look for the flats an the middle to be open cause its hard to cover both an get good heat.

My homeboy(whos not very good btw)was doin nanos on accident with the 155.He didnt even know about reblitzin just by messin with the universal blitzes an shifts he got good heat.

I had a fellow VGer (will remain nameless) do this against me recently and it flat stops the run. I take pride in running the ball and could not break one. You might get a couple yards, but not much. Passing isn't easy either. I would be curious as to how to counter this with regularity.

Snap the ball when they "spread" the LBs. Let them do the spread/show blitz or spread/pinch thing a few times to get their rhythm, and snap when the LBs are spreading/backing up. I haven't faced that this year b/c I haven't played much competitively but I used to do this in years past, and that was what killed me.

Yes. Against the run alot of times they get in the backfield before the hand off. I have noticed that people that do this shake/wiggle have to user the safety. The running back into the flat or hb fades or even playaction hurt this.

Its more effective then the prowl mello because the lineman don't move just the linebackers. It's used more as s run defense. I did off tackle and at time was hit in the backfield. The screen thing I will have to try

You have to know if it is zone or man behind it, Come out in a compressed set to find out. LIke...snugs flip, onece you tell if it is man or zone then you will have a better chance at beating it.

Well, I do this on D with the 1-5-5 and IMO it's no different than moving players around manually. It's the same thing just less stuff to do. It's not a flavor of the month thing either I had no idea anyone was doing this until now and I've been doing it Day1 with the Jets d-book. It can be beat/countered, the question is can you do it on a regular basis. I run a blitz heavy defense but it's never the same blitz from the same spot. In man and in zone. But cheese it's not.

The reason it might be cheese is because 1-5-5 is a pass defense. No way it should stop a RB on a handoff. IMO

ya load up in a power run scheme...

    goaline
    strong I twin Te
    weak I twin te
    iform tight
    iform twin te

if that doesnt work...hit the middle of the field or the flats from shotgun bc they are blitzing 6 guys. Throw a fade to a HB.

Quick passing works well against this as well as unbumpables (if they are playing man).
