    South Africa vs Mexico

    half time...

that was actually a pretty entertaining first half, even without any scores. lots of action from mexico, lots of possession. SAfrica was too nervous early, but got some dangerous corners and crosses late.

Mexico's inability to finish some of those clear chances might come back to haunt them.

France and Uruguay are looking at South Africa and licking their chops. Lots of free headers. Forlan and Anelka will go bonkers. Mexico needs to get a win out of this, cause the other two teams will definitely feel like they can beat South Africa.

typical mexico. they dominate possession early on, but can't finish their chances. they pay for their misses, go down early in the 2nd half on a GREAT goal by south africa. top corner 2nd post, that's as good a finish as you'll ever see. mexico wakes up a little bit, and finally gets lucky with Marquez being wide open and onside cause of some horrible defending, and he doesn't miss of course.

I think this opens up the group for whoever manages to win between Uruguay-France.

still, good entertaining first game. couple of nice goals and some good chances.

Mexico should have converted their chances in the first half.

What an amazing 1st goal by South Africa. The locals I was with were going crazy. And then they hit the post in the 89th minutes!!

Mexico will regret this b/c they have two tough games approaching.

Very good game. SA was a different team in the 2nd half.

South Africa's goal was phenomenal. Top corner second post. Perfect finishing. you're right that mexico will regret not finishing their chances. but at least they showed some spirit in fighting back and getting the equalizer.

Did I not call the score! If I'd laid a tenner on that game, I would've won 50.

I only watched the 2nd half, but from what I saw RSA played a nice counter attacking style of football that helped them get the lead. Mexico were defending awfully that second half... true they should have gone for it, but dayum, defending is half the game!

But that's the irony. SA played tight D for the second half with the exception of the goal.

Home field advantage... never count it out.

    Blader.

that's mexico for you, blader. their best defense is controlling the ball on offense. that goalkeeper they had out there was atrocious! South Africa were more composed on the ball in the 2nd half, by far. And that counter attack for the score was beautiful. 3 passes and boom. That's all on their coach Parreira. Gotta give it up to 'em.

But they'll have to clean up their own defense. They gave Mexico way too many free headers in the box. France will eat that up, and I gotta believe Forlan will give 'em a dose too.
