    Hitting

What the hell am I doing wrong? I cannot get the timing down the save my life in this game. Even on easy i can't hit the ****ing ball. I've played the show before and it has never been this freaking hard to hit.

I can't tell where the hell the pitches are going and even if i guess right, my timing it completely off on the swings. I'm at a loss for words at this point.

I know its supposed to be hard but its ridiculous.

Lol, yeah it can be a ***** but here's what I do:
I guess the 4-seamer for a pitch and low for the zone. Usually always take the first pitch even if I'm locked on, it gives you a better sense of the timing. Don't swing for the fences unless you're up in the count. If you're down in the count just wait til the last second and foul the pitches off and don't swing at garbage. By picking the low zone you can more or less tee off on the high pitches because you're not locked in and stuck hitting liners or pop outs.

Why is that? Too new-fangled-contraption-like for the old timers?

No, it's a crutch. It's a pussification of the game for children. Use that sht online against any experienced user and you'll get pwned big time.

The key to hitting in this game is being patient. Don't put yourself on the defensive on the first pitch by trying to read an react. Think like a hitter - wait on the pitch you want until you have 2 strikes on you. Once you have 2 strikes you are in a defensive mode at the plate and you need to read and react to the pitch.

But using buttons to tell you what pitch is coming and where is what I'd expect from a 6 year old who's just learning about baseball. Man up.

Lol, if I wanted to man up, I'd put the beer down, grab my glove, and actually play.

I don't get the whole bashing of pitch guessing. This is essentially what guys are doing in the pros. They are expecting one pitch and can usually tell (at least the good hitters) the pitch out of a pitchers hand.

Most guys sit on fastball and just try to foul off breaking pitches unless a pitcher hangs one.

Here's the point - does a pitcher tell you he's throwing a fastball before he throws it? Nope. Why should the game alert you if you are guessing correctly before the pitch is thrown? It shouldn't. To have it tell you if you guessed right before the ball is pitched is a crutch for the handicapped imo.

In real baseball, batters "sit" or "look" for a pitch, they don't guess or expect. That means they try to read the pitch after it has been thrown. If they are looking for a fastball low and get a fastball low they will probably make contact (but maybe not a base hit). If it's a change up low they could be fooled if they aren't ready for the possibility of anything else.

Keep in mind that even your "good hitters" make an out about every 7 out of 10 at bats.

exactly... yes, in real baseball people guess what pitch is coming... but they dont get alerted if they are right or wrong before the pitch is thrown.
