Falcons improve to 2-1
Falcons come away from New Orleans with a 24-21 win. Coach Gunna was very disappointed in his two new starters on offense. So disappointed that Aaron Rodgers who just arrived to Atlanta could be on his way out the door. Rodgers did throw two TDs but also threw two INTs and threw some bad passes. The Falcons traded for Rice because they knew he would be a reliable back. Rice was not reliable as he put the ball on the ground twice. Both times the Falcons recovered. He did have 8 catches for 98 yards and a scoring on the ground.
Falcons defense continues to play well intercepting Clausen two times on the day. The last interception by Buchannan sealed the game for Atlanta. Coach Gunna is worried about the big plays his defense continues to give up on the ground. Thats something the Falcons will have to fix with the 3-0 49ers coming to town.
Game Recap
Falcons get the ball first and drive all the way to the one yard line. Aaron Rogers tries to hit Steve Smith in the enzone and is intercepted. First play for the Saints, Matthews runs 80 yards and the Saints go up 7-0.
Falcons would bounce back though as Breston and Rogers hook up for a touchdown. Next Saints drive, Clausen throws a bad ball that Hill intercepts. Few plays later Ray Rice would fumble but Atlanta recovers. Rice would late score from 17 yards out. Falcons go up 14-7.
Next drive Falcons try to bring some pressure and get burned. Saints drive down the field and tie the game at 14 when Clausen connects with Henderson.
Game is tied in the 4th quarter at 21. Falcons have the ball in field goal range when Ray Rice fumbles for the second time. And again Atlanta recovers. Atlanta would kick a FG to go up 24-21.
Next drive, Clausen is intercepted by Buchannon and gives Atlanta the win.
