    National debt increase by president.

Wait, the media says that it's the Democrats who are doing all the spending?

I saw this on facebook and it set off a ****storm when I posted it on my page.

Reagan cut taxes without cutting spending equally. In his defense, he killed USSR. So that counts for something. And he did it by increasing the debt like that.

Of course Obama's number would have a smaller percentage increase, when there's already trillions in existing debt.

In his defense, he killed USSR.
No he didn't. The USSR was doomed to fail before Reagan took office, and they never bothered trying to come up with their own version of the Star Wars program, since it was a waste if it didn't have a 100% success rate.

I've posted stuff like this before. Reaganomics. republicans tax little, spend like crazy. Republicans living off of credit while the Dems spend as you go which is why their tantrums about Obama leaving our children in debt is ****n hypocrisy at its finest. Spend no money on infrastructure, cut programs, etc.
I knew Pacquio was getting knocked out when they showed Romney in his dressing room wishing him luck.

That extremely intellectually dishonest. Why would they break it down by percentage rather than a number? Answer? They have an agenda.

If the national debt was 10 dollars, and Reagan increased it to 30 dollars, that is a 200% increase. But it is still only 20 bucks.

If by the time we get to Obama, the national debt is 100 dollars, and he increases it by 35%, that is 35 dollars, nearly twice that of Reagan.

This type of thing just underscores how the liberals in this country are pandering to stupid people.

Actually, I believe the answer would be "because GDP has increased since 1981."

It has to be a percentage imo, a dollar amount would mean nothing - $20 is $20 and $50 billion is $50 billion both riding inflation. A percent is a perspective ... but it would be cool to equate the dollar from 1982 to what's it worth now for even more perspective.

That is totally true. I mean, between Bush and Obama, the dollar has completely changed in terms of value.

I agree, you can't compare Reagan and Obama. However, you can compare Presidents that are next to each other.

Let's put W next to Reagan then. I'd love to compare.

    Awesome point.

They should really show the increase in gross GDP beside the gross debt, divide them and create a fair percentage comparison.

Just looking at that title again "Who Increased the Debt" gave me a laugh, since they all have. The debt hasn't been paid down since the late 1940s. Trying to claim that Republicans are worse than Democrats is irrelevant since neither party has actually cut the size of government in years.
