    Corporation influence in government

What do you guys think about it?

How much control should the goverment have over them and vise versa?

Do you guys feel that if people have to pay there taxes they way they do that corperations should bepaying the same?

Should goverment officials have any ties to corperations while in office like lobbyist or board members or any other way?

I think about this a lot. A part of me (because I am not an executive, board member, or CEO) wants the system to exclude corporations from politics like tighten up lobbing, create more strict laws around this stuff, or change the rules about corporations and liability. Or, allow more disclosure about the goings ons within the conglomerates; who are the stake holders, and make that public knowledge. Split the media up 50% private, 50% public ...

Government should have some control over certain types of business, anything like utilities and water, and those involving public welfare issues.

The whole government and freedom dichotomy is a tough argument.

Taxes are hard to pin on corporations. I'm not the type who thinks they should be obligated to pay taxes like citizens, they are after all a different entity. Taxes hurt business, and we need business to thrive in the current structure. The main taxes they should pay are the ones that cover externalizes caused by doing business. If they cause pollution than they should pay to clean it up.

Ideally no, but look at the system. We want the smartest people running the show, but these people usually want to work for the most money. President makes 300-400 k per year while CEO at fortune five hundred company makes 13 million per year. Simply put, the brightest minds tend not to be in the government.

The system is the problem. I mean the problem is systemic with in the government and the ideals of people. The American way is an ideal based on productivity, success, power, and greed. It is great to create incentive for everyday people because the perception is that such people can become well to do or better, but it is short sighted when you consider health, welfare, efficiency and overall fairness under the law. But this is the way of the world. It doesn't matter if you're in D.C. or China, there are kings and there are peasants ... The peasants generally follow the rules made by the kings.

Monsanto has way too much influence on the FDA, USDA.......There is way too much conflict of interest. These two should always be seperate, because money will always cause a bias.

Same thing with Halliburton which exempted themselves from being sued for improper fracking of natural gas
