(1) Use VY's speed....SG Formations and speed options work real well with Texas (VY is scary fast!)
(2) Power Running game: Your second best weapon is Cedric Benson use him to pound the ball right up the middle....this will be a hard against the 4-4, but if you can get the D out of the 4-4 by using the SG and VY then you can pound them with Benson
(3) Their WRs aren't the best in the game, but they aint bad! Plus thier Freshmen Limas Sweed (#4) is 6-5 and 210 lbs...throw it up to him and let him go get it!
...for the most part Texas's strength is thier running game....but keep the D honest with the short passing game and you should be alright....
....take a read of the Power Spread Thread, the Run and Gun thread and the Run and Shoot thread to get more ideas on what plays to run.....
AR's suggestions are dead on. I'd also suggest taking a look at the I Form Slot formation and the Slot Corner play in particular (I've posted this here before). If you get 4-4 called on you a lot, call this play and nail the slot receiver, who will be left completely open 90% of the time.Originally Posted by SciotoIrish
Enjoy the TD or mega-huge gainer, and then watch your opponent ditch the 4-4 in a hurry. Hell, just keep that one play as an audible if you like. And if you do, and he starts audibling out of 4-4, make sure you have the FB smash play out of I Form Slot as another audible to check to. You will get 3-5 yards every time with that play against most of the other defensive formations.
